What about The Byrds (as The Beefeaters) trying to sound British on their first single "Please Let Me Love You".

Mark Lindsay still is singing, guesting on albums. I bought the single CD PR&TR's Greatest Hits and it's very good, about all you need. The Beau Brummels were a San Fransico band, but they had me fooled as a kid, I thought they were British. My friend toured with them as their drummer in one incarnation. Early on, bands had to adopt that British look and sound, as everything else had been swept away in the invasion. I bought into it as a little kid, and if a singer showed up on TV with a pompador, I blew 'em off! Back to the topic, a very good article indeed on a television show with an amazing line-up! Thanks for that. I'd love to see that video.

Paul Revere (the original from the band) still tours with sidemen as Paul Revere and the Raiders. Of the original band, none remain. The first replacement was the lead guitarist (drafted into the US Army). His replacement had played lead (as a session man) on "Down in the Boondocks". Lindsay came back, after leaving, to do "Cherokee Nation". Then he left again. Paul Revere also plays Vegas a lot. And he (along with Gary Puckett) does a lot for 'Nam vets-which, as one, I appreciate.

In addition to their record career (and they were a great rock band), they were the house band on an afternoon show of Dick Clark's called "Where the Action Is"- although they didn't do the theme song, oddly enough- it was Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon.

The Searchers did a show called "Solid Gold"-and I think Spencer was in by then, where they lipsynched LP#9. John was interviewed by one of the show's hostesses- Nina Blackwood. They also lipsynched it with Mike (but not Tony) on "Shindig" in the '60s.

Thanks to all for kind comments and for the info, I also found out today that Mark Lindsay did a version of Just Like Me, a song done by Tony Jackson, on an EP only released in Portugal, but which ecently found it's way onto CD.

For those who may not have noted I have reviewed both the NME 64 and 65 shows, from The Searchers persepective the 64 show was the better, as they got three numbers and were also seen getting an award for Best British Group Runners Up.

Mark Lindsay did "Just Like Me" with Paul Revere and the Raiders. It was one of their first hit singles.
