Have a closer look at the strings over the bridge pickup of the 4004Cii5:

Hmmmm...
I think I would prefer those humbuckers without the painted line and RIC on them. It just screams HONDO after being surrounded by the lovely wood finishing.
Better idea would be raised black done in the plastic cover ala the first EMG's.

Hey Joey-

that "needs" a toaster cover like Jeff's!

I'd love to have a bass that wieghs the same as my January '73 4001 JetGlo and have the same neck profile. It's considerably lighter than my 2004 4003 and the neck is much, much slimmer.

My perfect Ric would also have a dot neck, neck toaster pup, those retro control knobs and would have to be finished in white.

Indeed, it might look a LOT like this -

I can't help but look at my recently acquired JetGlo 4001s and wonder if I could get it refinished to that standard.

I must have one.

White on white with white binding. Love to see that as the 2005 finish of the year.

Joey - yeah, that looks too narrow to me.

The cheyenne four string is pretty narrow also.

The pickups on the fours look fine. I don't see how that pickup on the five will get sufficient volume on the B or G, especially the B.

To me, the perfect ric bass would be a neck-thru 2030.

One of THESE, in my possession, is the "perfect"

Well Sergio's 21 fretter is up there, but I'd say probably a 68-ish spec but with reissue h/shoe (full width cp inlays, checkered binding etc) in either Azureglo or Blueboy, seeing as my 72 is fireglo. Although I think I'd have to be able to see the walnut wings...Kendalls would have been close (wrong colour though, for me at any rate)but it wasn't meant to be. BTW Jeff, that 68 is darn close too; wish I could afford it!

Ronn,
Like a mirror image of the JG one on page 205 in Smith's book? A 4004 could be turned into one!
