Given the fallout from Randy,s doubleneck I,d be glad this comes with what looks like an custom A&S anvil case. I bought a custom one for transporting my Rics about and it was the best money I,ve spent in a long time. After seeing how it handled going thru Miami airport I,d be much more assured that no UPS/FedEX guy would be a problem.

One of the problems with these guitars is the necks have slightly different angles from the body. The case that I have was made by Rickenbacker to fit this bass but it still did not have any extra padding under the body on the bass neck side. essentially there was a gap between the bass body and the padding at that spot and with full tension on the strings and the already delicate neck any bounce or bump this thing took was absorbed by the brace at the but and the bottom of the body. The bass neck on these is only attached by about 2" of wood & glue and a back plate with bolts. Even if this case is built like a brick, if it is not properly supported and padded inside, it is going to have trouble.
With a guitar this rare and desirable I would not worry about not having the original case but I would request this be padded nicely inside for shipment as well. Mike sent mine back and it looked like "The Mummy" when I opened up the case. I couldn't have been more pleased to see it too!

I was just worried about the shipping cost should I gather up the guts to bid on this thing. The seller said it would be around $100 bucks. That's fine.
You guys are right though. I should be more concerned about the instrument arriving safely than the case.

I sent mine to and from N.C. to N.Y.S. around $35 with $3000 insurance each time? $100 is real high but hey what's $100 for one of these.
If I remember right the last two reached $4000+ but the FG had some issues and the JG did not reach it's reserve? That JG was nice I'll bet someone bought this after the auction was over but this Azureglo is rarer and it sure looks to be in almost MINT shape.. I am very very surprised indeed to see one up for sale at all. It would be cool to see the only three in this color, I know of, owned by this Forum group! Of course no one knows how many were actually made. If this was a Doubleneck 6/12 I would try to swing it and die happy!
GO FOR IT MAN!
