I like the Slinkies as well, great tone and they seem to have a bit longer life than some others.

How 'bout round wounds vs. flat wounds? I think I read somewhere that flats were lower tension strings than rounds. Ric currently puts rounds on 4003s, but does anybody use flats?

Hey I love this internet thing. Nice site Jeffery many of the string makers are posting the tension stat's on there. I found what I needed in the Pricey but great Thomastik - Infeld strings. Did a comparison and posted in the thread about my potato head creation I plan to do. Thanks again always a good place to find answers.

Since I found Just Strings, thats the only place I get my strings.

"I read somewhere that flats were lower tension strings than rounds"

It all depends on the guage of the sets you are comparing. It can go either way.

Check it out It's worth the read.
I might try the half rounds but I like the brightness of the roundwounds and I just have not found any other flat wound that gives me that sound yet?

There are so many ways you can custom order the gauges you like I could go even lighter but I think I have found what I need in the T.I. line and bass strings last so long I don't mind the added cost especialy on that early 4003 neck I have to work with. Thanks again.

I know I post a lot when I have something going. I'll be much more quiet when that bass get's here! I'll be busy with my Spud!

D'Addario Half Rounds are very nice, I have them on my Zon 5 string fretless.

I will try a set of Half wounds on the 5 string someday just to see? I am used to the Martin round wounds I have on there now. They were light years above the strings that were on it when I bought it. But in fairness I changed a lot of variables when I converted this 4003 to a 5 string.
