Hello Paul, and welcome to the forum!
I had wanted one of these for a long time. I'd seen a picture a couple of years ago and thought how cool it looked, sort of like a 360 style. I knew they were somewhat rare and expensive so I kindof just let it go....Plus, I wasn't sure how BIG the thing actually was...I thought it was just the size of a 360 or close to it.....
I guess I have to thank Jerry Juden for posting that pic a while back of the 4005 and V63 side by side. When I realized how large the body was on the 4005, I KNEW it was right for me.....that pic sent me over the edge.....

the body is really large compared with the 4001 or other basses....but it's amazing how thin is the neck...and how easy to play, the action, etc..

Mine is strung with rounds that are a faded gold or yellowish ends on them. I use flats on all but one of my basses. Any suggestions for which flats to use on a 4005, since it uses the "R" tailpiece I guess they take special length strings?

Hi Chris
Wow! See, that spell of good luck carries on....congratulations, that is an absolute beauty of a bass. In fact the more 4005s I see, the more I want one; unfortunately that isn't likely to happen! Best of luck with it though; you really have had some year, Rick-wise!
