The toruble with silicone on guitars/basses is with the finish and with the frets .

Paint /refinishing can be a real headache and frets can come loose and stay loose.

I understand the use of it in lots of cases ...it just needs to be kept away from guitars/basses etc.

Trouble is and that is why I need to use spell check more often than not .

The neck on the 4002 is extremely stiff and stable and with the new fretboard, there's a better neck profile to guide on, as well. Since you've done your work, this bass 'sings' acoustically, even with the older style Elixir strings. It plays in tune right up the neck. The action is light and low. I'm really impressed. I'll be writing about it soon, and will eventually post some pictures. It's definitely a player. Thanks again!
