No offense, but I don't find the body shape aesthetically pleasing at all.

However, I do admire your imagination.

Tinkering with classic designs is one thing...everyone will have their opinions. But original work has to always follow some esthetic guide, eventually hitting peoples opinions.

Good craftsmanship is to be appreciated (I think that's why we're all into Ricks), so to me, if an axe is built well I can handle odd designs. And as modern guitars go, this design is pretty tame.

Personally I think it's too "squarish", but overall looks like a design that would find a following. I would, however, think of "angularizing" the headstock-the classic Rick curves appear to clash with the modified body style...

And wasn't the 4000 a single PU? Image But you might have meant 4000 as in the series?

If I were ever to put a custom guitar together it's have elements of both my 4001 and my J-Bass...the wings might resemble this design. Image

It looks like an Alembic to me, thus is not an original design IMHO.

No offense ,but the 4003 design shouldn't be changed....if ya want an "updated" 21st century RIC, you've got the 4004 series...their basic bass design is fantastic the way it is......I'd call yours something else....a 4006 maybe??

....but it is cool to be able to design something like this and throw it out there for all to see....

I think the body looks cool, but I don't think it looks like an update to the 4001/3. It looks more like a cross between a Warrior and a Warwick IMHO. I don't think the 4000 headstock goes well with it.

Like Chris Pappas said, I don't think the shape of the 4000 series basses needs to be updated. That bass design would be a completely new model.

I'll second what Jeff Rath said:

It has an American flag on it, it's just hard to see it in the picture. Image
