Azureglo was not uncommon during the 70's and was offered for a number of years, was a standard color, no color of the year back then that I remember anyway. I have an Azureglo 78 4001.

Blue does seems to be a colour that a lot of people like. There seems to be plenty of 70,s A/Z basses out there, certainly after 73, but they all still fetch a good price.
The Turquoise and Blueboy don,t seem to be too common, compared to MB etc, and that can only help in rarity and holding their value for the future.
Bob, I,ve passed on a BB FL, so you probably have the only one made. I,m sure it will be well worth the wait!

Why is Azureglo considered rare if it was a common color in the 70s?

In the '80's a buddy of mine *finally*, after years of playing, achieved his dream of owning a Rick, and it was Azureglo, IIRC. We were heartbroken for him when we heard it was stolen (from his car, pre or post-gig). Image

I was reading this thread yesterday at work, and thinking, 'yeah, well, I don't much care for the turquoise either'. But then last night I had a dream that I was playing a turquoise 360 with my band and I totally loved it. Now, I'm reconsidering turquoise. (And 360s! my preference being for 330s)

I must be a total dork for dreaming about something I read on the forum... oh well!

Believe me, your not the first guy here to dream about Rics or anything Ric related!

BTW, you just gotta' see turq in person, no photos do it justice.

You all have excellent taste!

I love the way turquoise complements the neck color; it is difficult to photograph, though.

One of the colors I like as well, have a 4004L in it and 370WB. Pics of 370 below:

The light seems to affect the color in pictures as both pictures are of the same guitar but one looks to have more green in it.

Turquoise is a great color. I remember seeing a 660/12 on eBay about a year ago--I took a shot at it but didn't get it! But the color looked especially gorgeous with the gold guard and truss rod cover. My 325 is the older shade of turquoise that is quite a bit more green-looking, and it is beautiful as well. My husband bought that one as a Christmas present for me after we tried to get the 660!

July of 2003 this Turquoise 4003S/5 was on ebay. I wish I was home the last day of the auction to bid on it. I was away, being an usher at my guitar player's wedding.

I totally agree, regarding the turquoise/rosewood combination. I'm thinking about making a rosewood pickguard and truss rod cover for my turq' 4003. Rosewood binding, anyone?

The vintage knobs look especially nice with turquoise, too! Any black knobs would be kinda ugly on a rosewood pickguard, though.

I think Lindsay's 4003 is just aching for a set of vintage pickups!
