I saw your post Jeff too and actually had gone to Mike's site before, if these are all burgandy's it must be a very hard color to paint as the two that are on ebay are much lighter than any of these examples I've seen and owned and that would not happen from the sun they get darker not lighter. The one I have now, my 81 is exactly the same shade as the 2002 in both of your posts and nothing on Mikes site looks like these two on ebay and I actually saw that before either of you posted,... but I give up!!!!! arghhh!!!! help me!!!!!!

I have GOT to figure out how to download out of may daughters camera...

my "burgundy" is a very deep color, but seems that a lot of people call lesser reds that color.
I wouldn't say mine is "eggplant" but calling it such does not seem so far fetched. But I suppose it's very possible that different guitars will age differently, depending on many variables.

MY 81 is deep too, not quite as dark as the early 70's Burgandy's but is still a dark color and you need a strong light to see through it and then even barely.

My '79 is pretty close to the same shade as the 2002 that is posted on this thread. Its pretty dark, but if you're looking for it, you could spot the skunk stripe from across a room.(especially from behind) But the wood grain is hard to see unless you're 2 feet away from it. Also, the lighting makes a big difference in how light/dark it appears.

I agree with you Jeff. I had a 78 that was pretty dark but the skunk stripe was always visible. It looked great in the sunlight...too bad it didn't play as good as it looked.
