Someone want to help kick?.............
I have seen a orange 4000. It was some time in the late eighties. I don't know the year or if it was a refin, but as I recall at the time I thought it was original.

The late 60's proved to be a very interesting time for Rickenbacker as Andy mentioned with many new models on the table and hardware designs, the implementation of the high-gain pickups for guitar and bass, wild finishes, custom orders etc...LOTS of creativity.

No Mitch, I,m not trying to say weed....Just generally creative open minds that reflected the thinking at the time. I don,t think weed, or any other substance was behind the thought process of those who decided on these designs.
It seemed to be a quiet time for the company and as a result you could order anything. Personally, I, like many others here wish we could do that today, but John Hall has done such a good job that RIC sell all they make and in the end that,s how you should be running a buisness.

You don't put a pickup in your mute cavity... You put your WEEEEED in there!
Andrew, relax. Just say "weed."

Thanks for the answers folks. So it seems that sometime around '68 was when the original horseshoe pickup went away? Then the V63 one came out around '84 and it uses alnico slugs and non magnetized shoes?

Jim, if that guy will ship to the UK I will be on it like a ton of bricks; that is exactly what I need to complete my CS. If he won't, I may have to ask someone a favour

. I'm willing to go pretty darn high on that though if necessary. I may not get another chance!!
