Since when is fireglo rare?

I guess you're keen on your Ric's being fireglo then Jim? Hows about you do a McCartney on one of them ? You never know you might grow to love the appearence of the unpainted wood. Just joking you as my 5 year old would say. For me you can keep all these boutique guitars with the exotic woods, they leave me cold ! They all look like clones of each other with the organically shaped bodies, the oiled finish's and the designer pickups.I think I would rather play a Squier P bass !
Umm .. no thanks Keith, Fireglo's enough for me. I agree about the designer look alikes. I'm lucky really my love afair with Fireglo saves me a lot of heartache over things like Black Stars, and Shadows, what's the point, I'd only want to have them refinished !!!
Only a couple of Rics I'm really lusting after (denial mode engaged) ...
Feb 1973 4001 Fireglo, with Chequer binding, - My first Ric 1973 4001 Fireglo with White Binding 1973 4001s Fireglo 1980 4001s Fireglo 1970 4000 Fireglo Any 4005 Fireglo
Other than that I'm perfectly happy with my 97-4003 and my 92-v63.

Same here Tony, very few have any kind of appeal to me, some are downright ugly, and others, I'd be embarassed to have hanging round my neck ... and of course there's the "designer' price tag !!!
Add to that, the multi-string nonsense, and I don't mean 5 strings, I'm talking 8-10-12 and even 14 string instruments, neck looks like a picnic table, probably wieghs about the same too.

You have just had me LOL Jim, designer guitars are (usually)an eyesore. I have 6 bass guitars and I love them all. 2 are Ric 4003's, 1 Fender P bass, 1 Reverend Rumblefish(the only one in the UK ??) 1 Tokai P bass copy and an acoustic bass. There are some nice guitars out there, but NOTHING looks as good as a Ric and nothing ever will. They got it right 1st time round and IMO will be very hard to improve on.
The fancy woods are fine, remember how we all drooled on the pics of JH's "dumpster bass"? Although personally I prefer painted basses. It's the "organic shapes" that make me puke. Especially the singlecut style, you know, the boutique basses with the "hump". Ugly with a capital UG.

Tony, thanks for the welcome. People on this forum are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and there are some very knowledgable people. I have made approx (I think) 20 posts (in about 3 days) and I'm addicted. I arent particularly up on the tech side of things so it will be of great assistance to me. I have even wrote a post that got a response from Mr Hall in that time. Hope I didnt upset him ! and if I did I hope he forgives me. I dont want to ruffle anyones feathers, although I will say what I mean if I think it is not unreasonable.
