I've previously told the long version on this site... but the first "Beatles" record I bought was "Sing a Song with the Beatles" (Tower, Jan/65). I felt like a fool when I got home and realized it wasn't really a Beatle record (I was 11 at the time) but the fold-out record did contain lyrics, chords and chord charts and really helped me get my guitar playing going.

Why I wasn't able to see the words "instrumental background re-creations" I'll never know. It had pictures of the Beatles on the cover and I guess that was good enough for me!

Not a weird moment or a funny one, but fun...

I just turned 19 not too long ago so I can now get into bars here. Me and two of my friends went to this place the other night and I met my old guitar teacher.
He was the one playing at the bar that night so we decided to check him out. He knew I like The Beatles so at the start of his gig he says "I'm gonna dedicate this one to my good friend Patrick Magee!" and he played When I'm 64 on this jumbo-style 12 string acoustic. Sounded real nice!

I wish he could've showed me how he played it, he had so many chords in there, real cool.

OK, here goes...64 Concert at the Cow Palace, San Francisco...Brother & I had tickets, our driver (Uncle) did not, however, two other Uncles and their "associates" working for the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office (security) DRAGGED our driver (Uncle) through the gates as if he were a wanted criminal.... (Yea, right) Anyhow that's how my Uncle (and Uncles) saw the concert...free

My two cousins who are a year or two older than me and from Long Island, saw them at Shea Stadium, they were sitting in the middle somewhere and said you could not hear them at all, all you could hear were the screams of the girls.

I saw them at Dodger Stadium in '66 (from there it was their last two shows ever, in Frisco, I believe). All I could hear was the screaming around me (well, a bit of the songs). I had the misfortune of posessing the only pair of binoculars around, and they happened to be hanging around my neck. Every girl in reaching distance snagged them for a look, while I was whipped back and forth, choking before I could remove them.

haha! Do you remember Barry and the Remains? (opening band?)

The only other band I remember from that night is the Cyrkle (sp?). No one paid attention to them, poor guys.

They were a good band too.

Weren't The Cyrkle were managed by Brian Epstein? The biggest surprise for me was that their awful (IMO) hit, Red Rubber Ball was written by a certain Paul Simon.
