Nick, first off, I've not received an e-mail from you so it would be difficult to have answered whatever questions you asked. But I'll tell you now that the 325C64 is getting very near to production- test necks and bodies have been produced, and only some part details are waiting to be resolved.

Contrary to what you state, this is an entirely new guitar and has not previously been produced, so much work has been required to get it on to the factory floor.

Might be he is confused somewhat with the V series.

. . . which, of course, is a different animal entirely.

Nick, As I posted earlier, you have to build the wait into the process. Think of the "C" Series as a concept car. Once unveiled at a car show, it takes years to put into production. RIC wants to get it right. You want RIC to get it right. I want RIC to get it right. Let them get it right. Be thankful that after your wait you will own free and clear. You won't owe a thing. Pick it up a play. If you are concerned about not living long enough to see it, maybe a guitar shouldn't be the first of your concerns. Just messing with you Nick. Trust me...I was a little bitchy about my wait for the first 4. it is so worth it my friend. Have faith brother. John Hall and the group know what they are doing. Rome wasn't built in a day, and your RIC will last longer.

As long as we're using analogies with other industries, try this one.

Anyway, the analogy with a concept car is flawed. Concept cars are just that; they are very rarely intended to be prototypes of production models, and car companies and/or dealers certainly don't accept orders (or deposits ) for future delivery thereof.

Adam, the vaporware analogy is more flawed. Vaporware got its bad connotations from the dot com boom here in the Bay Area, because so much of it was never produced, only promised to line someone's pockets and promote their opulent lifestyles. The concept car analogy is actually truer now than it was in the past. Concept cars are of three types, anyway: the modified production car, the intended-for-production car, and the tickle-yer-nuts car to grab press with no possibility of production.

Miata, Viper, Mini, Prowler, PT Cruiser, Mercedes McClaren, Crossfire, T-Bird, VW "New Beetle", Audi TT coupe and convertible. A dozen off the top of my head that made it within 3 years of first showing. There are probably at least 2 or 3 per year lately. This is, of course, a minority of those shown. But not enough to say, "rarely".

Rickenbacker produces. Patience is required to get it right. In the end, Rickenbacker delivers. There are the usual detractors, but by and large customers range from satisfied to ecstatic when their guitars are finally in their hands.

Paul, Reread the referenced definition of vaporware - then compare it to the guitar in question. The guitar has been announced, it has been marketed, but it has not been produced. If you read John's last post, the design isn't even finished yet. That is the very definition of vaporware. The fact that it will eventually be available does not change that. There is no inherent concept of permanence in the term.

OK, Adam, I admit I may have jumped the gun here. We all heard so much bad about vaporware around here that it became a synonym for "never will see market". I see that you are taking a more literal, and probably more reasonable, view.

design not done yet, u got to be kidding, did not rick produce the first production run of the 325c64 in december of 2001. of course!!!! and giving dealers delivery dates as far back as this past september. they all evaporate!!!! rick should build them and get them out for all the good people who in good faith placed a order paid for it and want the miami. period!!!! and those with orders thought in some reasonable waiting time period they would get one.3 years come on!!! rickenbacker is the one to get peoples hopes going with there fantom delivery dates, if they said originally it will be a long process in design , etc........ and it will be years in the making while u place your order fine. that is and was not the case with rickenbacker.!!!!!! and it is not even a finish design yet and they give dealers like music123 and other dealers a now this august delivery date. and the design is not even done yet. then how wil it be ready in august. i am not that stupid as u may think.!!! however i will continue to wait all thou i will ***** from time to time about the rick wait!!!! all the best to all of u out there. nick.

No, RIC did not produce the first production run of the 325C64 in December of 2001. Thats when they discontinued the 325V63. When they introduced the C Series guitars, they built a 325C64 prototype. The 360/12C63 are starting to flow out of the factory now. Next up is the 325C64. TA-DA!!

Nick: You have a right to your opinion and I have noted that those reading your posts have done their level best to appreciate your frustration and offer supportive and corrective comments were they are able.

Having said that, do you not think that you will get more support and understanding by adopting a less abrasive tone.

In my view, you are just below the hostility limit. The price of posting here is a respect for the feelings of others. I sincerely hope you choose that approach. Otherwise, the next rant will be your last.
