Essentially,
I had already a 360 (96 model purchased in 98)when I bought the 660 (2000 model). Initially, I wanted for the 660 for the esthetics and the gold pick gard and head stock. At the time, the 660 neck was really thick and my hand did not feel as comfortable and hurt a bit. It was still beautiful and everything, but, it did bug me a bit. I then made the decision/mistake to get a ric-12 via a trade. I traded for it by using the 660 as I felt the neck to thick. As we all know, never trade what you have, because you end up wanting it again. I became reinterested in the 620 because I love the Rossmeisel shape and thought that the neck would be similar to the 360s (I have three of those). I was right. The neck seems the same, the wood grain is less flashy than the 660, but still super. I think that the higains do compliment the through body design. I had found that on my 660, the toasters lacked something. The neck feels heavier than the on a 360 as it lays inthe guitar, but mainly because it has a smaller body.
I am happier with the 620 and a real believer in today's stock rics, even though I modded the 12 string with toasters and have a cw 360. I think that the stock guitars have plenty of jangle, have retained the specific ric esthetic and have a price/quality ratio that is impressive.

. There was a cheaper Hot Rod style amp but the assistant reckoned it wouldnt really be loud enough for gigs. I think it was about £370. I really want a valve amp because the tone to me sounds much richer and more dated, which is what I love. Almost like the difference between vinyl and cd. Do you reckon its worth the differnce in price to save for a valve? Or am i just being snobbish? Think of the guitar sound to 'You cant do that' by the beatles. Thats what im basing my sound around. Not that I want to be John Lennon or anything, of course....
