By the way...your former pal(4001C64S) is still immaculate, and is regularly played. I removed his 'shoes and strung him with roundwounds. He is one Bad@$$ Rick!

Ouch, just the thought of having to sell that hurts. I'm just glad it's got a good home
The Monty is just awesome. Since I haven't had a RIC for a while and playing a couple of old Peavey's that I have, the RIC just fit like a glove. Like an old friend. That finish is just perfect. And the sound, pure RIC. Haven't put it down much with the exception of the Patriots game. GO PATS!!!!

I would love to get a big rig but can't justify it right now since I'm in the Air Force, and North Dakota isn't exactly a music hotbead for talented players to hook up with. I'm thinking either a more powerful combo or a head with 2x10's.

The Bad@$$ bridge is something I might have done in the 80's if I ever had the cash(along with a brass nut and Schaller machines). I'm glad I didn't have the cash!
Rest assured...for as long as I own him he will only wear a Rick bridge!

Yeah,
I my first Rick bass was a 1980 Jetglo 4001 that I bought in 1984. I wanted the same Rick as Geddy so I had the Bad@$$ mod done to it. Wish I still had that bass, actually. As well as the C64S

Pleased you're enjoying your new Ric Scott. You would enjoy it much more with an Ashdown rig though. They are great amps. I use an ABM 300evo head and the ABM compact 2x10. It is plenty enough for most of the gigs I play and it has done hundreds now. More power...required add another 2x10.

Good choice Chris. Jim Glen was telling me about these amps, the YBA200 all tube amp to be exact. After reading all the great reviews about this amp I ordered one for myself. Very easy on the wallet for a tube amp.

Chris,
How do you like that head with the tube or ss pre-amp ?
I was looking at it's bigger brother the XS800 which is the same price as the YBA-200, but is a lot more powerful.

I love it. The hybrid is perfect for me. They had not yet introduced the XS800 when I bought mine, but the 400 is PLENTY of amp for me. I haven't got it past '3' yet with 2 guitarists & a powerful drummer. I also run it through my old Fender 4x10 cab in addition to the Yorkie cab.
The XS800 looks nice - I think it's actually lighter than mine because it has fans instead of a heat sink, but like I said - at this juncture of my career 400w is ample!
We just finished doing some recording & my 4003 sounded MONSTROUS! My best recorded tone ever.
The YBA200 looks sweet too, but I honestly have no experience with that one.
I will say that I think Traynor/Yorkville have got it going on right now. This is my 2nd Yorkie (I foolishly sold an old Bassmaster 200 combo I had a few years back) & I am thrilled.
Best kept secret in amplification if you ask me.
Bob, let me know how that YBA200 sounds when you get it, I'd love to hear your review.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the update, and you're right, the 800 is substantialy lighter than the 400. I like the overall layout and design of the 800, but the lure of 200w of all tube is tempting.
Looking forward to a report from Bob Scott on his new YBA-200 and his c64, a lot of new toys for one week !!!

Bob, please do let us know how you like the YBA-200; I either need to buy a new power amp or, for a few dollars more, go all tube. I'd really be interested in how it sounds with a Rickenbacker.

I will be post my thoughts when I get the YBA-200. It's being shipped directly from Yorkville, but I'm not sure when it's suppose to arrive.
Can't wait to try my c64 through it.

I'd be hard pressed not to get that matching cab too Bob. That 15"/2x10" cabinet looks sweet!
