Welcome Chuck! This is a great forum!

BTW, what did you play in before you "quit"?

I played in about a dozen or so Rock groups. Toured most of the Midwest and played just about every Holiday Inn that ever existed....

When I began playing (to show you my age), I started out with a Baldwin Exterminator (how many of you guys remember those!?!?) and an old Jazz copy of some sort....Later I moved up to Sunn and Acoustic. Man those were the DAYS!! I got my first Ric in 1978. a JetGlo 4001. Sweet bass! Unfortunately, I sold it in later years. I STILL regret that!

I left gigging in 1980-81 to pursue another job in the music industry simply due to the fact that I was more or less burnt out and needed to get away from it for a while. You guys know the deal...lots of touring for no money, Promoters who were always "above board" (yeah, right!) One ****** motel room after another....and on and on..blah....

Anyway, when I decided to kind of "get back into it", my first purchase was the Ric. I have since bought a variety of basses but the Ric is still my favorite! I play with a group of "old-timers" like myself and we ocassionally play a small gig here or there. Nothing too serious, though.

Funny you should say that! That's the name of my present group "The Whippersnappers"...kind of fitting seeing as how we're all over the hill! Oh, BTW, Although I don't have a current pic of my Ric, here is an exact copy..

I fell in love with the Midnight Blue the very first time I saw it..

Here's a very old pic of my Ric and an old Ampeg rig that I used for a brief time...with an Ovation Magnum and a couple of Daions.

I know potentially certifiable, but also a lot older and wiser. So, less of the after gig partying etc, more real rest between gigs, and a decent diet.

My days of a couple if nights decent sleep a week are long long gone. Rest of the guys are similar in age, and for blues, age and life's experience helps. !!!!

The siren's call to playing live is very intoxicating !!

Believe me Brother, I know the feeling! My hats' off to you. Actually, I envy the hell out of you. As much as I wish I were you (re: the TV show "Then Came Bronson"), My Grandkids would be upset if I left town for an "extended" period of time!HAHA Good luck to you!
