White with black trim is Eighties; white-on-white with chrome hardware is classic. Just MHO of course ;-)

I still like it with the black PLASTIC and body binding, but the hardware can remain chrome..

I think Ilan nailed it where he says it,s just a classic combination and I,m sure that RIC could keep a white white for a very long time now. That finish on my bass is over 35 years old.
Paul, a "Winter White" bass would be cool indeed. No pun intended....
I,ve got my patent lawyer working on it now Image

Wint's isn't a V63; it is the real deal. a Rose Morris 1999, I think. Maurice Gibb used to bang on it.

I agree white/white is about the classiest finish going. But obviously not many people agreed because they must have been available for as long as White was, which was for a period of years and they are very rare. I've seen 75 white/black 4001's and I had an 83, so that's at least 8 years. You see white/black quite often, how often do you see white/white? Same with black/black, very rare.

Any Rick bass is sweet, but those white ones are classy. They are really beautiful. If it wasn't sacreligious, I'd have to get my 4001 refinished.

it's not sacreligious....It's your bass, if you want it refin'd GO FOR IT!!! I did...Look back to the Union Jack bass thread entitled, "a completed bass (Finally)...

The auction is up to $1100! Clean white must be pretty popular. Next week there will be a slew of stained and beat white Ricks up there with starting bids of $1000 because of this rare bird.
