My error guys, John, Dan thanks for pointing it out to me.
If you are looking for suggestions on how to make it easier, take out the samples of the translucent colours and leave the wording. In my case I've always looked at the translucecnt samples, skimmed the wording and wrongly asumed that these were the "only" colours for the 4004.
Alternatley make "Available in standard Rickenbacker colours" bold so your eyes are drawn to that portion of the text
Having said that, the pic of the Fireglo is the first time I've seen a standard type finish on a 4004.
Thanks again for clearing this up.

Here's the cropped view of the Fireglo body:
Sorry I didn't take more hi-res close-ups, but I was running late (this was after 3 p.m. on Sunday, the last day!).
Paul, the Olympus D-400Z doesn't render red well no matter what the lighting source and the exposure setting are. I did use some exposure compensation in some of my NAMM pics, but I couldn't tell you exactly what I used on a particular picture, as I was trying this and that. I should have been reviewing the pictures when I took them, but didn't.
The D-400Z is pretty good for outdoor pictures, like this one I took up on Mt. Lassen a few years ago:

where is the namm show?

The NAMM show in question was held last week at the Anaheim Convention Center. It is an industry-only event, not open to the general public.

Gary,
The Mt. Lassen pic is very nice! The The D-400Z does make excellent outdoor images. Now I understand your frustration. Well...at least our Ricks don't fail us like cameras sometimes do.

Hi Garry, There's a program you can download for free that will let you brighten your pictures up so they look as good as they do in natural daylight. It's called Irfanview:
http://www.irfanview.com/
When you've opened an image file you go to 'Image/Enhance Colors/Gamma Correction' and adjust to get a perfect pic.

Won't work with MAC, unfortunately...

Thanks for the info, Lee. The Olympus came with Camedia software (not Y2K compliant!) that has gamma correction, but it seems to be "clunky" to use, not easy to make changes that are indeed corrections, rather than just adventures into art nouveau!

I downloaded IRFANVIEW and used it to recover a pic of Jaymi and I taken when we met in Ontario. Previously this picture was so dark all you could make out was a little of the Chrome
So left to right
My 97-Fireglo 4003 Ted's Restored 4004 Cheyenne My 92-Fireglo 4001-v63
Not a high quality image, but recovered from black is pretty good. Thanks for the suggestion.

Picking up from where you left off...
It's still a bit too dark but that's because of the compression from making it "web friendly".
If you are really interested, you can e-mail it to me and I can redo it with Photoshop CS and send it back to you with no quality loss
Free of charge of course!

How's this, taken from the first image posted?

One of my favorite features of CS is the "save for web" one. And the program only costs a grand...
