more good thoughts guys, thanks again. I have tried the play in darkness one. Worked well. This is my first forum experience and I must say it is quite remarkable to be able to instantly tap into such a knowledge base. Think of the story Paul tells of the Beatles taking a bus across town to learn one particular chord they were looking for from a guy.

The great John Entwistle even looked at his fingerboard. His Alembics were equipped with LED side markers for when the stage was dark.

And, though I'm sure he didn't need them, he had the names of the notes inlaid in the fingerboard as position markers.

He even had the names of the notes inlayed into the fingerboard!
