At least George was into guitars, and would have known what kind his "long shiney" strings were! I think there's still a good chance that Rickenbacker would have given him a bass. Of course it would have been a right handed bass, so all the C64's would have a standard peghead. Not that there's anything wrong with the up-side-down heads they have now.

I was kind of thinking that given George's love for Ric guitars he might have played a ric bass as well if he had been designated as the bass player ... maybe even a 4005???

Naw, he would have played a Gretch bass. Realistically I think he probably would have played some kind of Fender because they were so common and he has played them in the studio before. Then again it could have been a 4001 if he were presented with one which I'm sure he would have been, but he would have been a totally different type of player than Paul was too.

Hey Chris - I could not agree with you more. ISHST is one of my favs EVER. I just found it interesting about the beginnings of that bass line.

I like listening to the stuff the Beatles were listening to in their youth - It's fun trying to pick out what really influenced them. They really liked good rocking music, that's for sure....
