I'm in North Dakota and considering buying a case humidifier for protection. Anyone have one to recommend? I found one online that looks good but, kinda expensive. Will buy if it's worth it, though.

I bet the "special activation solution" in that ad is plain old H2O. Image

I added a third humidifier to my house and changed the filters on all of them and backed my thermostat down a couple of degrees ... and the extra humidity is straightening out all of the bass necks ...

I got a Ric coming tomorrow from the cold Midwest to the warm and sunny (but not yet humid) weather of an early spring in Israel... how long do I have to wait before I can open the box? how long does it take for it to acclimate? are 24 hours enough? It's a '73 and I don't want to risk damaging it. Any advice?

When my 4004/5Cii arrived, the longest I could wait was 3 hrs. I had it delivered to where I work and my co workers were busting my chops to unpack it...it was the middle of August anyway.
I got alot of oooh and ahhs, even from the people who are not musicians...until we saw the damage, then there were alot of oh no's!!

Well, customs at the airport already opened it without asking me.

Ilan, The world is going crazy, we are all buying new basses! Tell me about the '73. Is it the Azureglo that you were thinking about?

Bob

PS no reply from Mark S yet, give him a nudge please...!

Bob - no, I got a white 73 off eBay and by a strange coincidence, the seller's wife was going to Israel so she brought the bass with her - saved me $225 shipping and 17% VAT. I just got the bass earlier today, but there are many issues with it, it's all in the thread titled "Is there something wrong with this picture?" - see the last 8 or 7 posts. But it will eventually be gorgeous.

I will get an Azureglo some day (soon), though. This is stronger than me.

I'll give Mark a call, maybe invite him to the Forum, after all it was a Ric he was playing (my Ric... 73 Jetglo) when he first saw the woman who was to become his wife.

I'm off to soundcheck now - fellow Forum member Marc Lazare's band is having me as guest player for 4 or 5 songs. Should be fun - this is one Ric-friendly band. And their music is incredible too.
