Negatory Jeffrey, that white covered solid wire is a ground wire

Dale,
I added that white covered wire on Tuesday to bypass the .0047 cap. What you can't see from this angle is that the wire is soldered to the leads on either side of the cap.

Wow Jeff....I'd never had the p/g off before...I had no reason to believe there was a cap in there!
How does it sound without it?

My V63 just oozes balls. I can't believe there is a cap in there.

There shouldn't be.
According to the factory the Cap was never part of the v63 wiring harness, the factory circuit drawings reflect this !!!

The V was made for about 15 years. I suppose there could have been some variation but Jeff's seems to be of recent vintage. Mine is a '94.

'98, cap! As mentioned I do not know for sure if it is factory stock, but the quality of the work makes me think it hasn't been tampered with.
The bass sounds even ballsier with the cap removed, although it did sound great before the bypass. I suspected a cap once I compared the V63 to my '73 4001 with a V63 horseshoe with no cap.

Jeff,
Why someone would actually add one would be a mystery. In the applications I have seen, they do not use a ceramic disc cap as appears on yours. The ones I have bypassed, '70s and '80s use an axial lead molded cap similar in appearances to the tone caps but smaller. Things could be different in the '90s with design changes and all, but the discussion here leads one to believe V63s didn't use one. Regardless, I'm sure it sounds better without. Great looking bass.

I guess mine was modded then at some point before Chris got it. In that case I may just replace it entirely by a piece of wire, or not.

My v63 was made in early 1988. It's no .0047 cap in it.
