The 2030 is a more primitive and a more raw sounding bass ...

I paid $200 for my white 2030 a number of years ago, 1998 if I remember correctly. I bought the fireglo 2030 last year for $500.

Here is the cavity cover detail.

Here is a view inside. There are 3 wires coming from each pickup so this bass has humbuckers. Note the printed circuit board and the molex connector for the pickup leads. The approach is Alembic-like.

What's the weight like on that one Ted?
Comparable to a 3001? (just under 12lbs)

Joey, the Brea Guitar Center must have realized they were smoking crack. I was there today and it was listed for $1099. Still double what it should be, but getting closer to reality.

I used it for a session with my drummer friend tonight and I am very pleased with the way it sounded. It needs a few tweeks yet but I it is pretty close to right. The whole band is suppose to get together tomorrow. The 2030 will be making an appearance.

Those seem to be about the same price as the 230 series guitars should be going for. I like the sound of the guitar pickups, so I would guess I'd like the sound of the bass too. A local store up here (portland) has a used 230 guitar hanging on the wall, but they want $900...too much. I've never seen a 2030 bass anywhere for sale...

my new 2020 makes a damn fine 5 string ...

Image

This is a truely superior 5 string bass ... it has the same pickups as the 4004CII5 ... it can out p-bass a p-bass but it has a sort of unique tone ... I put in a high end Kahler bridge ...

Jeff, I'm having serious trouble seeing details---where is the body of the bass, and where is the rug?

I took it out to play last night ... my band did one set .. I plugged it into an ampeg SVT ... first I had to turn the volume way down on the amp and then I had to run the bass volume at 9 ... that bass has tons of output ...

aahhh ... I just realized as I was typing ... it is a spinal tap bass ... it goes to 11 ... that is why it is so hot and loud ...

anyway that bass has a good tone it work with fingers, thumb slapping and picking styles of play ...
