Lol ... thanks Brian, like Shaun says, we all like different things. I've embracecd my Fireglo obsession but I can see it manifest itself in others, just in different forms !!!

End of the day I'd still take an LK over any other non Ric bass out there.

Well said Jim....and the beauty of it is there are all those different variations we can all get worked up about in our individual (and sometimes worrying!)ways...unfortunately mine are CSs, and blue (any!) ones, and fireglo ones, and er, I'll stop now....

I like the cream color of the CS. Very nice. I personally don't care for the signature on the pickguard, though... even though I like Squire and have all the Yes albums. I just like a cleaner pickguard.

I guess the differences of opinion is what makes special editions both collectible and pricey.

If I acquired a CS, I'd replace the pickguard with a blank v63 template and insert the finger rest holes...

.. Oh, and go over the chrome bits with a wire brush, make it as close as possible to the real thing as I can..

Then again, I don't own a CS so I cannae' vouch for that.

The finish on the CS doesn't do anything for me either, but it would be nice to have one.
The 2002's have to be my favorites hands down.
Next would be the Lemmy, I love the carved oak leaves.
FireGlow would have to be on the bottom of my list.
Just kidding Jim, actualy FG comes in third.

I like the oak leaves a lot on the LK, too.

Fireglo is okay, but not my favorite. Midnight Blue is my favorite.

Actually the only thing I don't like about the CS is the way the paint falls off if you so much as look at it...although it does give it Mojo.I do like guitars that look the worse for wear (eg Sting's P-Bass, Jaco's Jazz, Rory Gallagher's Strat..). My favourite Ricks are pre-73 4001 deluxes in any colour (but pref blue!)and the CS. Although I also think 4005s look awesome....

It comes down to personal taste, music preference, roundwound vs. flatwound, influences, tone, playing style, ect...

Blueboy doesnt seem to be real popular with the forum, but I really enjoy mine. And it is quickly becoming my #1 Rick, but there again thats strictly my taste.

Jim Glen has it for fireglo, Jeff Rath has it for fiver's. I dont really know where Im going with this, but If Chris Squire started touring excusively with a green CII 4004, Im sure prices and sales on 4004s would skyrocket also.

Hey Scott, I really like Blueboy and hope to get one someday. You're probably right about the CII too....

I love the BlueBoy finish. I freely admit that this is a silly reason to not get one but it is a little "soft" looking for use in a metal band. It's not even a question of what others would think (that sort of thing really doesn't disturb me).....I just feel as though it wouldn't fit in looks wise. I love the Sea Green finish but have the same issues with it. Just a pastel phobia I guess !

If you like carved wood then you like the LK. Personally, it reminds me of my old headmaster's study and looks extremely dated imo, but there's no denying the craftmanship involved in such an elaborate instrument.
It can't hold a candle to the Cheyenne aesthetically for me, but the contemporary look isn't for everyone.

As I've said before you either usually love or hate the pastels and . I like the colour of the CS, just can't understand when there are still a thousand of them people are asking and people are paying more than $3K for them.

The pastel custom finishes do make a statement though, which is what I love about them...

I'd take a custom coral pink Ric with checkered binding tomorrow!

Pinkieglo .... might look not too bad on a 4005 style body !!!
