That '05 4003 I got of Ebay two weeks ago has a neck like the business end of a Louisville Slugger. Not my kind of neck.

That's a cool looking bass, especially with the gold hardware.

Seems to be 1 11/16" at the nut and goes as wide as 2 11/16" where the neck meets the body.

The bass is really light and well balanced. Almost seems neck heavy if anything.

Its a great looking thing Marc ! I would get the buzz and setup sorted and Im sure you will get used to it. I was the same with my 04 4003, the neck felt positively fat compared to my 2000 4003. I very soon got used to it though. The bigger necks are not an improvement, but its not the end of the world either.

I'm getting a little more used to it after playing for the last hour. I have a nice light brown strap that matches the fingerboard, so I guess she's a keeper.

Maybe if I set her up with a nice set of Roto's she'll respond better.Haven't had a new Ric in 26 years. The strings on her seem kinda junky..

Congrats Mark, very nice. Just give it some time, you'll get accustomed to the neck.

Is it just me and my hate of bling but I can't see past the gold hardware!

Is the neck really that different~?

What do you think of BB~?

The neck is different than the 4001. That's what I'm used to. I think I'm also thrown off by the light body.

So, overall don't you like it then, so far?

I assume you mean light by weight and not by the light blue colour! Surely the light body has to be a bonus, definitely on your shoulder and posture!

Mark, Overall at this point, the bass is growing on me. I actually can't wait to get home and play it tonight.

Warren,Yeah, the bass is light. Definately less than 10lbs, perhaps as light as 8. I'm just not used to having a neck heavy bass over a body heavy bass.

I can understand that, do you think that neck will take you a bit to get use to, with the difference of the necks being more rounded?

The bass is definately a keeper. Funny thing is that the neck and string spacing make it easy to slap, except for one thing. The neck pickup is to close. I think if the moved it back a little, many funk and R&B guys would dig it more.

I disagree with what you say about the pickups, but yes - they're perfect for slapping.

Just recently a shedload of people have bought into the Cii. Odd!

Marc - that is exactly why RIC move it back from it being right on the neck - if I recall JH correctly!

And Mark - that's something that Scott, Jeff, myself and a few others here knew for a couple of years now. They are great basses and I'm surprised we haven’t seen them show up on "big" stages yet!
