We always want what we can't have. If something like that happened, JH would be flooded with requests for everything that did not sell well over the last 30 years like:

1) Black Trim
2) 4003S
3) 4002
4) 4005
5) 4000

There are probably models on the guitar side that qualify but I am just too much of a bass bigot to be aware of them. It seems to me that John has and issue with the sound of the 4005.

All I want is a Bass somewhere
Horseshoe pickups and a split bridge there
Chequered binding over Maple stock
Fireglo finish .....

I understand that Ted. I can't dig the sound of the 4005.. it is too mellow for my tastes. Besides, I don't think that the body could stand up to my playing style. (just kidding of course!!)

Jeff, actually '69 Dodge Charger would be fine or maybe an Aston Martin...."Bond, James Bond"---Sean Connery era of course!!!

If the V68 does happen, I will be ordering 2 of them.

A V68 reissue would be the only Rick I would consider buying new at this point since the real ones seem to be out of reach and fragile to play.

The 75th aniversary is coming up. Perhaps there will be some limited editions offered for the event. Me like limited edtions.

I'm in for a V68 or two....and a couple of 4005's.....shoot why don't I just buy some stock in the company?.....

I'm good for at least one 4001v68. I kinda wish burgundy were an option, but I'll be happy with jet, maple, or fireglo too.

I'll be all over a FG V68. I'd love to get one with a little bit of figured maple (picture Jeff's ex '68). I may have to sell the old Jazz bass, but I couldn't imagine something more beautiful! Excluding my wife of course!

Come to think of it, if I sell the Jazz Bass, I could probably buy two! Hum, FG and JG, or BG and JG, or MG and FG ........

Now there's the ultimate custom choice, stop buy the factory, say a quick hi to JH, maybe play the Dumpster a little. Then, go see the wood shop and with the assistance of a Ric master luthier choose your own Maple .....

Sounds good to me but you have to see the folks at Alembic if you want to do all of that.

A friend of mine went to the Alembic plant and met Sharon and Mica (Ron was not in that day), played Stanley Clark's bass, toured the facilities, and met all of the artisans. He even got to see the spiderweb inlays being installed on an Entwistle Exploiter.

RIC made some "only1000units"-limited editions in the last 20 years...Glenn Frey, Susanna Hoffs, John Kay etc...by the way I love any of those artists...reading the forum messages it sounds like there'd be enough room and enough business for a limited edition 4001V68 and 4005V65 also...expecially if they found someone famous willing to endorse those instruments
