I think thta some pics of these guitars were on Scott Jennings' site. They were pitured at a bunch of guitar shows in the late '80s. A sight/site to see.

Pre-eBay...Last one I was at a couple of months ago, touted as the "Largest on the West Coast", there were about 40 dealers and one pitiful Electro 425. Lots of bellybutton guitars, though.

Hi John - yes I got the prototype 1969 from Scott and a few 'F's........not at those prices though!!! Just wish I'd seen this list at the time............as my friend Homer puts it..............DOH!!!!!!!

I want to cry when I look at the inventory I once had. An entire vintage show these days won't have as much clean, real gear as I had in my booths in the late 1980s - mid-1990s. Lets not get into the lefty '60 Les Paul 'Burst I sold for $60K in 1993 that recently sold for $275K...

I'll put all this stuff back up on the web site over the weekend, so you guys don't have to swap my images like trading cards.

Let me make a small correction to Graham's mostly accurate account of the deal with McGuinn's 341-12SF.

Actually, Tom only did finish matching on the butt of the guitar where the wood was badly damaged and where he did the overlay on the back of the headstock to re-attach it to the neck. The guitar is still original BurgundyGlow. Tom did an amazing job matching the color, although when I saw it in the HOF last year it seemed to have faded a bit (I got lucky. It is in the same exhibit as Gram Parson's acoustic, which I was there to inspect for inclusion in last years auction.) Since nearly all of the finish work is on the back, and the guitar is bolted to a wall behind glass, most people would never notice.

Roger asked John Hall for the guitar to be returned to him in 1993, I think. I do not know the entire story, but know the John had given Roger a replacement 331-6 out of his personal collection around the time Roger returned the 341-12SF. The 331-6 is the one Roger had on Letterman.

Breaks your heart? D'oh!

I had nothing to do with that list being out in the public. It was something I sent to about 50 people I thought would be interested back in 1988.

It should be noted that the lefty 4005 on that list was never FireGlo. I found it in the factory in a box, unfinished. Initially I asked John to shoot it FireGlow, but changed my mind. It is the same lefty MapleGlow 4005 that is in the shots of my guitar show booths, and that Dear Prudence in Japan had on their web site until recently.

That 370F in Graham's pictures has had a profound effect on me. I think I cried a bit actually.
