Correct me if Im wrong, but if we Brits buy a bass in Europe, say Holland, we dont have to pay any duty or vat anymore do we?

I know a man who was sent to prison for two years for de-frauding her majesty's government.i.e not paying taxes that were due on imported goods. I also know the guitar expert at HMC Gatwick. I would warn anybody trying to be clever with customs....it's a risky business. I think Peter's right. HMC are not stupid and it's wise to remember that. Having said that....I would ask Mr Hall to tell HMC that vintage guitars are pretty much worthless compared to new guitars please !!

"All they're good for is fire wood" hehe - I seriously think it would be cheaper for me to to the the US and pick the thing up and carry it back and say I was playing a gig out there!

yes, this is what I did at Rome airport when I came back from the USA with my vintage 4005....
I put several italian stickers allover the case...showing the bass has been mine for a long time...
no problems

Arrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh you can't say the 4**5 word :p
I think if you're paying that much it's probably good to do that!

yes the band plays once in a month..average.. I use the v63 or my new 4003Blue boy on stage since the 4005 is very delicate...but let me know if you are around since I am glad to show you the 4**5

Ahh very kind of you - just to tie in with the Rome connection our last gig was at a place called the Colisseum - although it was in Coventry! haha.

Macca played last year twice in the colisseum so you are happy to know you played in the same place
