The GC by my house has a 75 Mapleglo 4001 for $1500 on its wall. It's nice, but not any nicer than my 75 Burgundy...

It's been sitting there for a while. I think the market only goes so far regarding overpriced items. But it is a weird market at times. Almost seems like the bizzare mod factor can be a boon....

It is funny to see 2 year old 4003's selling for more than new ones. PT Barnum continuously proven right, I guess.

Right on Brett!

"The RIC smell".

That's a topic that almost certainly deserves it's own thread. It's better than a new car smell. My 2003 Montezuma Brown STILL has it!

That bass was my 3rd Rick & my first new one. I honestly got out of bed three times the night it arrived just to go open the case & gaze at it.

In the words of Eric Carmen/The Raspberries:
"I Can Hardly Believe That You're Mine."

Six weeks after buying my first Rickenbacker, I STILL get up out of bed during the night, sneak downstairs, open the case, and stare at my 381V69, so I know exactly what you mean.

Which raises the disturbing question; are we all sick? Do we need professional help? And where would one turn (turn turn) for such help? Can we bring our Ric's?

When the divorce goes through, will my wife at least leave me my Ric?

LOL! People who say you can't get a good bottom end from a Rick bass are the ones who need help!

As for wives...I would have very little good to say about my ex-wife, but she did stop me from selling my 75 4001 and my 66 Fender Mustang a long time ago, when I was close to giving up music altogether. So I will have to thank her for that. Image

Now my present wife is chastising me for even thinking about selling that 75 now that I have the new Laredo. I guess I can pick'em!

Ex-wife: Bought me my 1978 3001 (used)
Current girlfriend: Bought me my 2003 Montezuma Brown 4003 (new)

I can't complain too much...

My first Ric was a 77 4001 also, the old ones are pretty to look at but the new ones kill them in real playing situations. (and are still pretty to look at) I've been bringing my Sea Green out lately and getting compliments on both the color and the sound.
