Thanks, guys. I will try to get my hands on the 12's and do a taste test. I'm hoping one will work out. I'm not in a rush, because we aren't recording until fall at the earliest, and I am going to probably want to sell another guitar first to raise some funds (I'm saving gig money too, but not quite there yet!), but I would like to look into one soon enough to get working on it. I have played acoustic 12's before, so I kinda know what I'm in for, but yeah a hands-on would be very informative.

Kirby, thanks for the tip on the McGuinn DVD. I might check that out, too. My band is essentially a 3-piece with harmony vocals, so there is some space in our tracks besides just the bass, guitar, and acoustic guitar. Thanks for the tip!

Hey guys, a ton of thanks for all the help.

Especially... thanks to Lindsay for letting me test drive your Ric 12-string in person here in Central Illinois (and it was great to meet a fellow forum member and talk Rics!), and thanks to Ron Sodano and Sean Weingartner for alerting me to Classic Axe in Mannassas, VA.

I loved Lindsay's 12-string. The tone was magical, and it was easier to play than any 12-string I've previously played. I also thought that the wider spacing of a 660/12 might benefit me (I am a bass player and sometimes guitarist, not an Ace), although I must admit his 12 was a dream to play, due to it's low action and sweet tone.

Anyways, I did a lot of searching around and ended up dealing with Russ from Classic Axe in Mannassas, Va, (thanks Ron and Sean!). They had a new 660/12 in Turqouise (which I love - reminds me of 50's autos/culture). I bought it and am waiting eagerly for the shipment... will post pics when it arrives.

I had to sell my old PRS to justify the purchase, but it will be more than worth it. I'm sure it will play a part in my band's next CD, this fall. Plus, it will be a joy to play!

You will love the 660/12 as I do, being a bassist also!

Dean, it was great to meet you, see some of your Rics, and to hear your band's music. I'm glad that you liked the 330/12, but the 660/12 is a great guitar that for the sake of my wallet you are under no circumstances to allow me to play. Or even look at.

Please post pictures and a review when you get the new baby. I look forward to seeing you at Mojo's or somewhere in the near future.

Thanks for the shout out! I was in the store yesterday and Russ was telling me about someone from the Rick Forum bought the TUR 660/12. Congratulations! The turquiose w/the gold guards look fantastic, and it looks even better in the flesh. Make sure you take pictures when you get it so everyone could take a look at it.

Lindsay - thanks again for all the help. Your Ric collection is impressive, and your 330/12 was amazing - super low action and tone that I've just never heard anywhere before.

Jeff - I'm really glad to hear that the 660/12 is one of your favorites; judging from the bass collection I have seen from you on the Forum, that is a huge thumbs-up for the 12'er.

Ron - Thanks again for your post about Classic Axe. I have dealt with some good Ric dealers before, but the ones I knew didn't have 660/12's. I found a couple online that did have them, and Russ was great to work with and very helpful. I wouldn't have known about them without this Forum and your posts, so thanks!
