I, for one, would love to see special 75th anniversary pickguards issued.

Red Herring: Something that draws attention away from the central issue.

Of course we don't know what the central issue is, but you brought up the fact, John, that the cat was out of the bag when Slick played last Friday.

I just happened to mention that he played a 650 during Volunteers. That's all.

Maybe he was wearing a RIC T-shirt too. Hey, that's it. T-shirts are finally being made available again!

Another mention of the word red, and cherry!

Maybe a metallic red?

Nah, I still think silver.

But a Herring isn't red...

Sorry to hear about 4004's being left out :-(.

If it is solely a special color with a 75th anniversary pickguard then I'll likely pass. If it does have CB binding (apparently not likely)
and some other special features then I may be swayed. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

BTW....there has been some speculation that the color will be silver. With white binding I think that may be a little lackluster.....and we know black binding/hardware isn't likely. Maybe a limited run of the 4003s.....NICE!

I don't think adding checkered binding to a 4003 would be a huge issue for RIC. They did it with the 4004LK's and that special run of 4003's a couple of years ago for the Japanese market. I think it would be the perfect accessory for a 75th anniversary bass.

CB is currently on the production line for 381s and 660s. So maybe it's not impossible.

How about a translucent fireglo OVER a base of silver. With a 75th anniversary TRC and pickguard?
