That looks good Spike. You should send the neck off to Paul to get it done. I may have to do it too!

BTW, Ibanez did on their copy of the 480 along with body binding, but I like it without the body binding.

Yeah i'm not a big fan of body binding. I don't think it looks bad, I just prefer the way 'natural' unbound, beveled bodies look.

I put out some feelers in a PM to Paul about having the neck fitted with FWCP inlays, he said it would be no problem and gave me an estimate for the work. It's on my mind for now, we'll see what happens.

On an unrelated note, I ordered a Bigsby B5 for the SG today.

Why? What happens if you pull Paul's finger?

Actually, that could not be part of any reissue series as it never existed in the past with all those features. Instead it could be part of a new PH series, for Phantasy Hall.

Does anybody else here think that Bigsby could have designed the B5 without that treble-side mounting tab sticking out there??? Paul Bigsby was a hard-working genius, who I imagine, did a lot of thinking while he was building things. Didn't it ever occur to him to put that fourth mounting screw under the spring pad?

Sure cleans things up...

BTW, for some insight on how a hardworking genius lives and works, pick up a copy of Andy Babiuk's book on Bigsby. Immensely satisfying and one of the best guitar-related books of the past decade. It comes with a CD of some of Paul's tape-recorded "letters" home when he was traveling in Europe.

He sounds like he looks.

True, but haven't there been reissues and limited additions that were not completely accurate, and therefore never existed? :P
But if they are going to start it as a new series, they could start the CF series!!!

Maybe, but the hard working genius may have learned the hard way that it was needed, especially with some over-zealous players preventing excessive leverage. Or could it create issues with the spring having the mounting screw under it? Interesting. :? It makes me think that somehow, like everything else these days, when they try to make it more compact or simplistic, other issues are created.
