Just to keep Gareth on his toes, they are in their usual "fretted" positions, as are the top markers as well...

They could be all clustered up at the bottom really for all the good they do. No good can come from lookimg at your hands playing this. You'll only get confused. It's a bit Jedi like really. You just close your eyes and listen and adjust accordingly.

Or just tune it a quarter step up and play on the dots

As a recent convert to FL playing,i would have to agree with Gareth--at some point you just have to play it by ear,but i just wondered if Paul had strayed from the Ric path with this being an all new fretboard,etc.

OK, I'm back. (Cheers, groans...) Strangely, my check box to be notified of new posts in this topic area had been somehow unchecked for over a month, so I've been kind of flying blind. Apologies to any who were not promptly attended to. This has happened before. The checkbox is renewed, so I should be able to catch these queries earlier now.

I have been scarce around these parts lately, and the thumb is healed and energy back up, so here's one I delivered yesterday AM. It's the bass that Gareth picked up as a basket case a few years back, and for which he made a new set of truss rods. His instructions when he brought it to me were to make it fretless, and do it in the Aquabass finish (light Aqua with deep blue/violet pearl shading). I also bound it in black.

Let the photos do the talking. BTW, this one really GRINDS with a set of TI Jazz Flats, .045-.100!

People have the blues these days, it seems...here's one I just completed--it came to me as a heavily-loved and mis-wired JG hulk with an OHSC...first time I've seen a 480 case.

I rewired, replated, and of course refinished in Aquaglo with deep transparent Aqua Pearl shading...

Nice color! The upper horn does seem to resemble a 4001c64s...
