That "whoever it was" was me. I just bought a Cii from Mike Parks, and now I am wondering whether the one I ordered in May from my local dealer will show up at the same time! So I may have two Natural 4004Ciis. Anybody interested in one if that happens?

Hey, this is kinda exciting and a long time coming. Maybe we'll see some 4004 II 5-strings in the not so distant future.

I bet Ric was busy making a lot of the C64 basses in 2002 and 2003 ... they gotta be a good profit source at the $1800 +/- they sell for ... that sure is a nice price hike for a backwards headstock ...

Gordon, I would just get them to ship it. There really shouldn't be that much in the way of setup needed, other than intonation, depending on what kind of strings you want on it.

We want pics of all these new basses. Is it time for a Cii owner's club thread? The pool looks like it will soon be a lot larger.

Gordon, how long ago did you order your bass from Ed Roman? I ordered one from him back in April, but haven't gotten the call yet.

Erik, I would have to go dig out the deposit check and verify the date but I think it was either late Jan. or early Feb. I was already aware of Andy's ordeal so I did it with the attitude of "I am very content with my 4001 but I lust for a 4004 so I'll just order it now and some day I'll get a phone call that will put a smile on my face" and after a couple of months I did manage to just put it out of my mind. But when I saw that Andy's boat finally came in I couldn't help but hope. But I do think Jeffrey's theory is correct and my guess would be that you are about to be yet another happy CII owner.

RIC definitely works with what is known as a production wheel (from what I can tell) in other words, they’ll produce in batches and cycle through their various models. Now the question is – How long is the production run per model? That probably varies somewhat. How many orders in hand, etc.

What messed RIC up last year/this year were the problems with the C series, tooling and personnel. If that is all resolved they should begin cycling through the models relatively routinely.

I know a few weeks to a month or so ago they produced 3 5 string 4004Cii’s as a pilot run. The tooling I would suspect is the same for the 4 string as it is for the 5 string. Not to get anybody’s hope up, but you guys that have your 5 stings orders in may just get lucky. RIC is definitely churning out 4004’s right now. Given the delay in the introduction of the 5 strings, they could very easily be right behind.

For those who are just getting their bass, I hope you’ll be as happy with it as I am with mine. I’m sure the changes JH made to the bass are for the better. I believe that’s why he makes these changes!

Good luck & Cheers!

I went to the link for Rhoads Music and they had a link to a photo of the bass. Well it is the RIC corporate photo with Walnut headstock wings! Anybody else doubt he actually has one in stock; if he did the photo should be of the bass available for sale, that makes me very leery of him.

Mike Parks does the right thing in showing the actual product for sale, give him the business.

I agree with Jeff that the pic should be of the actual bass, not a pic of features that we all know are no longer available. I am going to roll the dice and order a 8 string once steady production of the 5 string begins. Mike Parks will get my order. I have bought parts from him and always recieved excellent service. If I have a question, he always responds within a day or two.

Hey guys, Don’t miss understand me – I’m not endorsing Rhodes. I too do my internet business thru Mike Parks. I just know that all the time I’ve been waiting I would be searching around to see if anybody had gotten one, etc. and the Rhodes’ site said “coming soon” and with all of the 4004 activity lately I looked over there yesterday and they said “in stock now”. I figured I give you guys the lead. No doubt that Mike’s the man! He was helping me along the way pushing RIC – he’s a great guy.

Cheers

I talked to Mike Parks Wednesday and he said that he just got some 4004Ciis in stock and he kindly opened up the box to describe the Natural one for me while we were on the phone. I asked him if he could send me pics of it and after we got off the phone he went out and photographed the bass I was interested in. That evening I had the pics in my inbox. Great service and they were the pics of the actual bass I purchased from him, not the Corporate image.

Mike and I talked about that yesterday. I would have posted that he had one in stock but I knew he sold it to someone. I guess that was you Jeffrey. Congratulations! Mike said it is very much like mine. I think someone else turned it down because of the lack of quilt. It has more of a tiger design to it. Mine does too - it's just not evident in my pics. Mike said he‘ll most likely post that pic so people can see how these basses are actually coming compared to the pic on RIC.

You'll love it Jeffrey

Good luck

Let us know how you like it.

Cheers
