Ok, while we're at it....1966...

I don't post here anymore to often, but I figured I'd throw out my opinion.

The colours are sweet, the gold guards are sweet, sure, they are small. If someone is willing too drop that kind of money on a guitar, than they could put a fraction of that price down to buy a new pickguard.

Most importantly, I think, the headstock is sweet. I don't know why, but I really like it, especially with those vintage tuners.
Also, don't let some internet contributors keep you all from doing the one offs and special runs, they are cool.

Hi Ivan, I fully agree with your assessment on that narrow point.

However, all the companies I've worked for have taken the view that they do live, or die, by the quality of goods and service they provide to their customers. I'd say a well managed forum like this one where the vast bulk of people who contribute are well-informed past, present or potential future customers (or indeed all three) provides a good opportunity to company management to get direct, and I would say in the main measured and balanced, feedback from their customers. All the management teams I've ever worked in would regard that kind of feedback as a valuable management tool to help shape their commercial strategies. I assume John and Ben Hall think the same or why else would they be bothering reading and commenting on a regular basis to threads on the forum. Indeed, to John Hall's earlier comments in this thread re the unlikelihood of either further special limited editions runs or the incorporation of Rose Morris vintage reissues into the standard line up, he clearly has listened and incorporated feedback from this forum into his commercial thinking. While I may not agree with his conclusions (and I certainly wouldn't in terms of the potential for Rose Morris reissue product) I'd say it's overall a very positive thing that these types of discussion can be had direct between interested customers and a management team via forums such as this.

I think you are right Kevin. I've never owned a 660, but when I looked at pictures of the guitars last week and was scratching my head to try to figure out exactly what had been done, I came to the same conclusion. I don't think the top guard lip, even on a 660 off-the-shelf upper guard, would mount onto a 21 fret 330/1997 shaped guitar in a way where the lip would be equidistant between the 2 pick ups. So I assume there must have been some trimming required to centre it.

That's like buying a Ferrari and taking it back because you "don't like the shape of the wheels, they're just too round"
I can fully understand John Hall's decision not to do this again if there are people that get upset and return a guitar due to the shape of a headstock, are there really people that fussy and over critical with nothing better to do?

Black guards are stunning on the Pearl White.

This thread has generated much discussion. There are so many changes that have occurred over the years. It is easy to see how different members would embrace different features.
