rickenbottom wrote:You are indeed mistaken- Walnut of instrument grade has become more expensive and somewhat scarce by comparison to Maple. However, the lower cost of finishing offsets that, which is why we were able to keep the price the same.
Damn I have no excuse not to buy one. Mr. Hall could you send some of the 4003s up here to the local Long & Mquade stores. Especially the stores in Ontario

Scott - you can order one from any authorized dealer. Tell Long and McQuades you want on and give them a deposit. I would suspect that the folks at Pick of the Ricks and Wildwood say have ordered them already and will get them first...

As the proud owner of a 380L/6 PZ and a custom 380L/12, I think this a GREAT!! I love the look and sound and feel of these RICs and mine both play superbly. Can't wait to get ahold of a 330. I do like the gold hardware of the 380s. These look more like the RCA models. Still quite Beautiful.
One question, are the necks unlacquered like the 380? It appears so but hard to tell.
Anyway, very classy and great idea. Totally awesome idea.

Just ordered a 330W from POTR.
First new RIC in a while. So cool.

That's a beautiful guitar, I agreed the gold hardware looks great with Walnut.
"Manta" Is that a standard 380L converted to a 12 by a luthier or something the factory built, 1 3/4'' wide neck? WOW.
How clever.
After recently listening to an interview with Steve Howe, he mentions the comfort factor in choosing his current electric 12 string. Seems to infer he is a Rick tone fan but needs something to play live in comfort.
Perhaps a new series, WEP - Walnut Easy Play

Robert,
Yes, this was one of those new old stock guitars at a guitar store that I stumbled upon on E-Bay that, by some stroke of luck, went for a really good price. So I had some ideas and between Craig Lavin doing the inlays and Paul Wilcynski (our Jingle Jangle here on the RRF) creating a new headstock and LOTS of other work the ideas became reality.
The story is in this RRF thread:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=379871&hilit=Tumon ... 75#p722004
You will find that Alex Pittwohn here on the RRF and I are big advocates of the walnut bodies.
Yea, Steve Howe should try this new 330W-12 with the unlaminated (is that a word??) neck and see how he likes it.
Best,
Manta

The guitars and basses are nice and light. The maple necks and fretboard do not have UV; they're bare/oil finished, like the rest of the instrument.

I'm surprised to hear these may be lighter weight. But the oil-finished fingerboard is definitely going to make several bassists, guitarists and techs doing fret work really happy. (I like gloss just fine thanks, but I've got no qualms with oil either--though it's may be a good idea to have gloss on a fretless fingerboard.)

Possibly there to prevent damage in case of an earthquake.
