That is a very logical suggestion. Good thinking.

My take is that it's backwards, but not the Python at all. Here's John with a different strap on backwards.

John was not terribly detail-oriented. He may have just not noticed, or having noticed didn't care. Without his glasses he was nearly blind. Life was pretty chaotic for the boys, too. Perhaps he and the others had just found their way upstairs ...

Thank you, Mark. I'm sure the last thing he could imagine is that people fourty-five years later would be wondering why his guitar strap was inside out. And had he done so, he may have worn it that way just to mess with our heads? It's possible.

He likely just flipped it inside out while he was putting the guitar around his neck. That is the simplest explanation I can come up with. We've all done it.

The one & only time I ever saw Keith Richards (New Barbarians, how appropriate ), when he first walked stumbled on stage, he tripped over a cymbal stand!
