Here's a couple:

1976 4001FL

ImageImage

The non-stock pieces on the fretless are the ginormous chrome pickguard, chrome knobs, chrome TRC, chrome nut, and ebony fretmarkers - original frets were yanked. THIS WAS DONE IN 1985 BEFORE I KNEW THAT A 1976 4001 MG WOULD ONE DAY BE WORTH MORE THAN $375!!! So step off me, ey!

1979 4001SLH

Image

The only STOCK parts left on the 1979 are the tuning keys, nut, pots & switch, bridge/tailpiece, frets, and jackplate. Even the inlays have been replaced! The HS pickup is from a pre-war Ricki Hawaiian guitar (1&1/2" wide), the toaster is a 1968, the paint - obviously no longer a Jetglo, it has Schaller straplocks, the PG has been cut in half, the tone pots & switch have been bypassed, and the TRC has been removed. This is the bass I use most for gigs.

Hey - thanks for the comment, Rikk. Here's the add'l FL shots per Bob's request:

The giant chrome pickguard & chrome knobs were on it when I bought it. I had the TRC custom made by a caster in Portland, OR.

I actually kinda like the guard, although the front portion goes a little high on the bass. Having a chrome guard covering the whole front of the bass would give it a cool industrial look. Having one cut to replicate the '57 4000 would also be cool.
