>>>In the car today I was thinking of how much he sounded like Graham Nash during parts of Hold Out Your Hand, and sure enough in the commentary he says that's what he was trying to go for.<<<

I have thought that forever! And I'm not even that familiar with Nash.... But it always reminded me of that song about two cats in the yard, etc, etc.

CSN is listed on various Yes programs as one of their influences, so I'm not surprised.

Yes covered "Everydays", a Buffalo Springfield tune (written by Stephen Stills); and The Byrds' "I See You" co-written by David Crosby... both on the 1st LP.
I would say there is an influence there... somewhere Image

"Everydays" is actually on Time and a word. But a great point - Who do you think they borrowed their classic "Da-Dah" style from?

Its uncanny how much Chris sounds like Ozzy on Hold Out Your Hand.
My daughter (19) watched the DVD with me and that was the first thing she said having never heard the track before.
The interview and production commentary are worth the money alone.
Chris has done a great job with this re-issue and the personal touch that he and Scotty have added is something that a lot of other artists should take note of.
I cant say it enough... THANKS CHRIS!

Jim,
I stand corrected! The song didn't see an LP release until "Time and A Word"... the song was; however, recorded for the first album. It didn't make the cut, and was released as a single B-side: Looking Around b/w Everydays (Oct 1969/584 298).
The single version is quite different. I do believe it is available on one of the "remastered" CD releases. The newer ones with bonus tracks... but, don't quote me on that! Image

I never noticed the similarities between Squire's and Ozzy's voice on that tune before but, ya, you're absolutely right. Now it's got me thinking how cool it would be if Ozzy covered HOYH backed by Zakk Wylde, Rudy Sarzo, John Lord and Jason Bonham. Ya baby!

You're right, Sean... I believe that version is on the 4 disc box set. That explains the rough recording style as well, although I like the interaction between Bill and Chris. Didn't they quote part of Holst "The Planets" in that version? Cool stuff! There is a live version of that track as well on "The word is live".

After you get confirmation of payment, how long has it been taking the folks here to receive theirs?

Or more to the point, has shipment to the US orders started? We are awaiting patiently (or trying!).

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen it or heard anything in over a week, here in the eastern US. Gettin' itchy!

"here in the eastern US. Gettin' itchy!"

Me too! Scratch, scratch.

I keep checking the mailbox. I feel like the kid in the movie A Christmas Story, just waiting for his decoder ring!

August 9, 2007 - Thursday

FOOW Orders

Again, thanks to those that have ordered an autographed copy of Fish Out of Water.

We are currently still processing orders through Paypal. We should have all invoices processed by the end of the week. (Do not send a duplicate request or you may get two invoices from us and two cd/dvd's - not that that's a bad thing, though.)

Just to let everyone know, it is just Scotty and myself processing these orders. We do not have staff, so please be patient with us. And, if we happen to make a mistake or two along the way - please send us an email letting us know the problem. We will take care of any issues right away.

Thanks again from Chris and Scotty Squire

Well if I lived close to them, I'd offer to help out... lickin stamps, stuffin mailers, buying new sharpies... the mundane stuff. Alas I don't, so I will sit here patiently waiting.

I can wait - it's just the anticipation!
