Seeing how JH comented to somone that the burst is a difficult pattern to apray. I think the mild burst with full coverage is their version of a compromise. I assume all the COY guitars we will see will look like the 360 that is posted.

kinda disappointing. Quite similar to Midnight Blue...

If they would go back and feather the edges with black or extreemly dark blue it would interest me more...

I wouldn't put *too* much stock in the stock photo (not to be redundant!) The standard, "official" pics of any finish don't look much like the real deal compared to photos at places like Elderly and NCM. I'd reserve judgment until we get some real quality photos.

That said I still *really* like the subtle "bubble" - as opposed to a full blown burst. Restrained and elegant.

I agree; those stock photos don't do the guitar justice. What we need to see are some large, high-res photos of this color on several different Rick bloodlines before we start cursing and putting our deposits back into the credit union. Or see the real thing, of course.

I was supposed to go to NAMM this month (I am the co-designer of an electronic guitar accessory, but the prototype will take some more development, so maybe summer NAMM)...and wish now that I could have been there.

I am positive that the real thing will be awesome. Would you buy any other finely-crafted handbuilt object from a tiny low-res picture?

you're right, you're right

I dispised the Blue Boy until I held one
but you could argue that the finish is of such high quality that any color would look good

I just had my hopes up for somthing a little more abnormal
Truth is Ill think long and hard before I rule out BBR when I order my new guitar this spring.

I can't wait to see more pictures of it. I really like the promo picture. But things never look the same.
I know someone on another forum who bought a 50th Anniversary Strat and he bought it according to the picture which pictured it a darker shade of brown to black and when he got it it was a dark brown to light brown, returned it instantly.
I hope NorthCoast gets some pictures of them up, they seem to take some really nice shots all the time.

Look at the Mary Chapin Carpenter pics on the RIC site. I like the real light shading on the interior of the burst. I'm sure that they look so much better in person - I don't think that the stock photo does it justice. Just imagine how good it would look under stage lights!

Man, somebody loan me some money.

The interiors look almost white in the MCC pics, they're probably Maple, so overall the colour is going to be a little darker.

If you also look at the skin tones in those pics, the flash is a little hot, so the colour of the Rics is bleached accordingly.

The Blueburst has no similarity to Midnight other than they're both blue. They look entirely different. MB is a solid metallic color with no woodgrain showing while BBR is completely translucent.

Blueburst is electric, really alive, and shaded like the Fireglo, except that the shading goes further into the center and is darker at the edge.

Hey Mr. Hall,
Any 4003 BBR pics for us to drool over?

Good luck at the show!

It looks astonishing on MCC's 620/12. Just lovely.

Noel, I managed a chat with MCC's guitar tech the night I took the pic of her playing the Blueburst 600 series 12 string.

I'm sure from what I saw, and from what the tech said that it is a 660, it has checker binding, full width inlays, thinner headstock, vintage p-ups, the guards and nameplate are black and there is an 'R' tail fitted for a change. Shame I can't post a larger pic.

Post it to Photobucket or similar, and then post the link to the pic here.

Thats kinda interesting, why are stock photos lack luster. Obviously they are trying to take a pic taht will show off the instrument, but all that lighting and such has ruined what it looks like in natural lighting conditions.

so why go to the bother and expense to create the lacking stock photo?
