There are usually 4-7 guitar amps onstage, but that's mostly for variety. They also make great bench seats. I wasn't planning on bringing an amp unless it's needed, because I think some of us are going Partirdge family style in Collin's van, if he's still up for that. I was only going to bring Big Red, and maybe the Blue Boy, if there's room, so the Nor Cal contingent could check them out, since they're my most unusual Ricks, and anyone who's been to SCARF `08 or `09 has seen everything else. Besides, I'd like to have room for the world's second larges pedal board...er third. 1)The Edge, 2) John Biscuti...

Re: San Francisco Bay Area Confluence ?
At the So Cal jams we always have more amps than we need. There are always two house guitar amp rigs and one house bass amp rig. Sometimes we add an extra bass rig, but I always bring a couple of guitar amps (One AC30, one BF Twin), and Rich brings his AC30 and the Deluxe. Steve brings his AC15, and this last time Collin brought his Bandmaster.

gareth-speaking for myself,i would love to check out your lemmy! i plan to bring my entire collection, which is 2,a 74 4000 and an 04 cii. are any of your basses equipped with the older horseshoes or are they the newer type pickup? i would be interested in hearing what the older pickups sound like in person-also it would not be any problem for me to bring my markbass cmd102p combo as a spare bass amp-it takes up very little space....
Re: San Francisco Bay Area Confluence ?
Who's got charts and lead sheets for these standards that we like to play? That would be wonderful if somebody has already assembled and organized a songbook. Paul, or Gary, maybe?
I'm willing to gather some off the net if we need.

I can put a few songs together if there are gaps in the existing song list. Does someone have an example of a sheet format that they like?
If it is to be, it is up to me.

Re: San Francisco Bay Area Confluence ?
On a related topic, I'm planning to host a private morning brunch get-together at my house with some light breakfast foods and coffee, fruit, pastries, and so on. A sort of indoor/outdoor, sit-around-and-shoot the breeze thing. It'll last from 9-11:30 a.m., and from there we can caravan to the venue, which is about 15 minutes away.
I'm putting together a guest list, to know how many are planning to show up. Depending upon interest, I may have to limit numbers due to parking concerns.
Please PM me ASAP to get put onto the list, and to get my address and parking instructions.

I can work from just a lyric sheet with the chord names written between the lines. That's enough if I'm familiar at all with the song.analogpackrat wrote:I can put a few songs together if there are gaps in the existing song list. Does someone have an example of a sheet format that they like?

I was wondering the same thing. We don't want to be redundant. I have my 4003 4-2-5 and my wife could bring her 325/1996 and FG660/12. I would like to see the 80 4001S. All of your basses are interesting. Never been to a confluence so clueless on what to bring.
It's too early in the morning to talk about our relationship !

What's wrong with redundancy?
Re: San Francisco Bay Area Confluence ?
You know, Jeff, that anyone who posts on this thread is obligated to come to the confluence.

I will, when you have the second one the weekend of 4/30-5-1/11.kiramdear wrote:You know, Jeff, that anyone who posts on this thread is obligated to come to the confluence.

I try to refrain from using charts whenever possible; I prefer to read off other guitarists and bassists if I can. Besides, the music stands usually obscure all of the lovely guitars in photos.

Kira, I have a bunch of the song sheets.... sort of free flow style. Mine are not organized in a book, or in a coherent manner, they are sort of fragmented.kiramdear wrote:Who's got charts and lead sheets for these standards that we like to play? Mine are sort of organized by categories of songs - like ones to play with Paulie, ones to play with Joey, ones to play with Gary, songs from this jam and songs from that jam, etc.
Gary has a bunch of song sheets that are well organized in a binder
[But the new Mini Con "regulation" is we have to limit our number of music stands to the bare necessity
Re: San Francisco Bay Area Confluence ?
That sounds good, Rich. We'll keep the clutter to a minimum but it will be nice to have charts just to refresh one's memory, if necessary.
Oh, and by the way, North of Malibu will be starting their set about 1:00 so don't be too late, everybody.

Re: San Francisco Bay Area Confluence ?
For songs I know well I need no charts, but then there are those that I can play but can't remember the changes, etc... The ol' noggin' ain't as reliable as it once was!
I've got a stack of sheets with lyrics and chords for various stuff--REM, Byrds, Beatles, Smithereens, etc. I'll print a couple of hard copy sets and make a zip file for people that want something to woodshed ahead of time.
OK, looking through this stuff I found a couple of other gems to perhaps add to the list:
The La's: There She Goes (I don't believe they played Ricks but the jangle is there)
Greg Kihn Band: The Break-up Song (Kihn played Ricks off and on)
Tommy Tutone: Jenny (867-5309) Teles originally, but sounds great on a Rick!

Re: San Francisco Bay Area Confluence ?
Too bad we couldn't set up some sort of overhead projector for the charts; project them onto the back wall of the studio; it would be huge (easy to read), there would only be one, and there wouldn't be any stands on the stage.
