Trawling around the usual big UK retailer sites, gfm, gak etc... Bit of a shame :(

and for the record, i hope some folks do cancel their orders, because i want to buy a couple more when they finally do come in.
update: my maple 4003S arrived at PotR on black friday and i got it a week later. so, right around 9 1/2 months for this batch of mapleglo; right within the stated window. thanks, chris!

i also picked up a jet from reverb - these things are nice! good QC, noticeably lighter than a 4003, and good looking fingerboards. worth the wait!

That's good to know Pete. I look to be just above you, (if I'm following the initials correctly), in that second batch as well. Maybe I'll be in the next batch of fireglo's shipped.

Fwiw, Mus.Friend is showing fireglo, jetglo, mid.blue, and walnut S models in stock. If a regular buyer, there's also a 20% coupon that they're sending around for the holidays, making it a really attractive offer, even sight unseen. I bought a fireglo S from them in July, and it's an exceptional beast. The guitar itself is perfect, though there was a minor cosmetic issue with the case showing minor warpage on the top outer shell. MF gave me an acceptable credit for it, and I hadn't wanted to return the bass since no replacements were available at the time.

I've been contemplating swapping over to the vintage/RHS pickups and knobs, and I normally love flats on my basses, but I'm really having too much fun with it as is, so I'm going to hold off on any mods. (I did remove the sticker, though. :D )

I removed the sticker for the vintage tone, but STILL haven't removed the other sticker, even though I got the bass in June... Funny story, about a year ago, my son was trying out a used 620 MB at Guitar Center. It still had the old style, rectangular (vintage?)sticker on the pick guard, but it was pretty worn. The salesman at GC told us that removing the sticker took 10% off the resale value of the guitar. Salespeople always seem to want to BS about Ricks!

Your son should have removed the sticker in front of the sales drone, then he could have paid 10% less for the guitar. 8)

IIRC, he also told us that the guitar was a "custom color", it was midnight blue, and that would justify another notch in pricing. I get that all time. Thing was, this was a REALLY nice example, played like a dream, but those big outlets like GC and Sam Ash always have gravy built into the price, so I can rarely justify buying from them. I wanted that guitar, and so did my son, but price wasn't right...

Isnt this the very same thing that cost them their franchise years ago?

That could be, but in this case I'm talking about used instruments, I've never even considered buying new Ricks from GC, because I'd have to pay 8 1/4 state sales tax on it, plus I've never heard them quote a price even in the same ballpark as the Rick Page, or Wildwood, or Daves or POTR...

Not exactly. Even though every instrument from RIC came with a case, they were not including them and selling them separately. Also, there liberal 30 day return policy resulted in Ricks being returned during the 30 day period, then being resold as new. Some even had swapped out vintage for standard parts. GC employees tended to badmouth RIC in general too.
