update: my maple 4003S arrived at PotR on black friday and i got it a week later. so, right around 9 1/2 months for this batch of mapleglo; right within the stated window. thanks, chris!jacolyte wrote:i'm in the second batch ordered by PotR, the order dated february 6th. the web page says "Rickenbacker has estimated delivery at 8-12 months as of 2/5/2015," and chris told me when i placed the order that it could potentially be even longer than that. that means october 6th at the very earliest, maybe next february 6th, and maybe even later than that. chris has been totally up front with me and i've been happy in all my dealings with him. anybody complaining before next february 6th is out of order.
and for the record, i hope some folks do cancel their orders, because i want to buy a couple more when they finally do come in.
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!mcxb wrote:(I did remove the sticker, though.)
Your son should have removed the sticker in front of the sales drone, then he could have paid 10% less for the guitar.squirebass wrote:Funny story, about a year ago, my son was trying out a used 620 MB at Guitar Center. It still had the old style, rectangular (vintage?)sticker on the pick guard, but it was pretty worn. The salesman at GC told us that removing the sticker took 10% off the resale value of the guitar. Salespeople always seem to want to BS about Ricks!

Isnt this the very same thing that cost them their franchise years ago?squirebass wrote:IIRC, he also told us that the guitar was a "custom color", it was midnight blue, and that would justify another notch in pricing. I get that all time. Thing was, this was a REALLY nice example, played like a dream, but those big outlets like GC and Sam Ash always have gravy built into the price, so I can rarely justify buying from them. I wanted that guitar, and so did my son, but price wasn't right...
That could be, but in this case I'm talking about used instruments, I've never even considered buying new Ricks from GC, because I'd have to pay 8 1/4 state sales tax on it, plus I've never heard them quote a price even in the same ballpark as the Rick Page, or Wildwood, or Daves or POTR...cheyenne wrote:Isnt this the very same thing that cost them their franchise years ago?squirebass wrote:IIRC, he also told us that the guitar was a "custom color", it was midnight blue, and that would justify another notch in pricing. Not exactly. Even though every instrument from RIC came with a case, they were not including them and selling them separately. Also, there liberal 30 day return policy resulted in Ricks being returned during the 30 day period, then being resold as new. Some even had swapped out vintage for standard parts. GC employees tended to badmouth RIC in general too.cheyenne wrote:Isnt this the very same thing that cost them their franchise years ago?
