Erik, your 4003 Blueboy sounded great through the Transonic cab at your gig last night! Great show overall and you guys did fine without your other guitar player.

"I Wrote This Song for Cash" went to Number One on the Soundclick Rockabilly charts, and #9 for overall Country.

Thank you! It was fun doing that.
It's from an audio production forum (http://womb.mixerman.net/index.php) comprised of people from all levels of the industry from the top to hobbyists like me. Once or twice a year (never consistently) we do what they call "CAPE" (collaborative audio production experiment...or something like that). People sign up with their various skills, are assembled into teams of 6-8 people, and three months later present their results. Not a competition at all, but a chance to work with people from all over, learn from them, and improve one's own various skills.
This time around they fiddled with the format by adding a producer's role. Rather than a songwriter being assigned to each team with a few choices, one of which would definitely be done, they tried a more real world approach. About 35 writers presented 70 songs, and the 20 "producers" picked the one they wanted to go with. Based on the producers' descriptions of how they intended to treat the song, teams of musicians and mixers were then assigned to the producers. We then had 6 weeks this time (rather than three months) to have a finished product.
It's amazing to hear the different directions teams went compared to their original demos from the songwriters. And the underlying idea for a lot of us is to not necessarily use CAPE as a be all and end all, but to ultimately branch out and do this with others outside the CAPE structure. Use CAPE and the forum as the learning ground and put that to work with others. Quite a fun experience in this changing business.
