Greg , not sure if you noticed, but the neck of that 87 has been "scuffed" (not by me) with steel wool to take the shine off and make it glide better . I'm just saying that so as not confuse the speed with the radius. It does have a great feeling neck tho, don't it?

Greg, if the bridge pup cover is put on the same at both screw locations (where the cover and spring are located), it sounds like the assembly may have been jammed in shipping? I would play with the two pup leveling screws and try to get it back straight/level, then raise/lower it where you like and where it gives the output you like.

I realize this is a keeper, but I'm on the fence about the stickers and pickup cover. I've always taken them off,,but is their any benefit in the collector world to keeping them on?

I wouldnt throw them away of course, I'd probably stick them to the warrenty card or something, and keep the cover in the case?

Opinions?

Normally I stick them to the card, but on my 360 DCM I'm leaving it on and trying very hard not to play it too much. Might have to pick up another 360, though, as it is proving difficult!

That '87 neck is very smooth to play. I did not realize it was scuffed, but it seems to have improved the feel, which is fine by me.

John, I'll play around around with the bridge pickup tonight. Hopefully it will unjam and I don't have to take it apart. I'd hate to mess up this beautiful paint job!

Greg- I meant to say the back of the neck has been scuffed. If you look close in real good light, you will see that it doesn't have the sheen the rest of the body has. They say it helps when sweating. Our skin doesn't stick as easily as it does when it is glossy. I don't play for a long enough period of time to work up a sweat!

Congrats on the DCM's guys. They're a cool-looking bass for sure. It looks like the color is a little more solid than the first one we saw at the RIC plant.

Ted- I hate to be "counter point guy," but I think all of the DCM4003's we've seen so far have had the bulbous headstock. I think sometimes they're REALLY hard to tell apart, and at the angle of Greg's photo its really hard to tell which one it is.

But the non-bulbous headstock is around 3/8" longer than the bulbous one. The easiest way for me to see that difference is to compare where the TRC ends in relation to the end of the headstock. All of the DCM4003's shown in this thread so far seem to have around 1/8" between the end of the TRC and the end of the headstock:

Happy dance time. Mine has a similar neck profile to my 97. Definitely not thin, but not like a 70's Ric. It even smells a little like grapes.
