Today we visited magnificent Waddesdon Manor..... built it the 1880s by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild. A truly lovely place with beautiful gardens and green treescapes:

Re: Aitch's 2009 UK adventure
We did a tour of the building and it was just as grand as the exterior. However, I have to say that if I never see another piece of 18th century porcelain it will be too bloody soon!!!
The highlight for me was the "Batchelor's Wing" where the Baron entertained royalty, politicians and hunting guests. Man, what a "blokey" place!! Guns, swords, knives everywhere and a billiard room as big as my house!!
Not to mention the very civilized smoking room and sneaky "back passage" exit for when the missus decides to drop in and see what you're up to with the lads!!
And so it will be a teary farewell tomorrow morning before the train ride north to Glasgow................

Aitch, is the train going via the high road or the low road ? Do travellers to Scotland still sing this old folk song ??
O you’ll tak’ the high road and I’ll tak’ the low road
And I’ll be in Scotland afore ye
For me and my true love will ne-er meet again
On the bonnie, bonnie banks o’ Loch Lomond.
