Ok- I have NOT been paying close enough attention to this thread!

Updates please Kira!!!! Do you have a Google Earth link for the start location and time? I want to enjoy it all so I'd like to be able to schedule things accordingly (travel, etc.). And please, I want details! Sounds like a very "progressive" event, like a neighborhood "progressive" dinner- only with waffles and Ricstuff!

What type of "charts" do you all plan to use? I have yet to hear about a definitive format. I do think the projector idea is, well, brilliant! Are you all looking for standard music notation or tab? If you're looking for tab/chords, I might even suggest that the set list be created with "www.chordie.com" as a 'songbook' that can then be distrubuted to users before the event and even projected on a wall during the event. Heck, a fake user could be created for chordie.com (weluvourrics) for the event and everyone could share the password/login (share)....what do you think? I could set it up if you all want me to do it...hmmm...might even be able to swipe the projector from work if the facility (or an attendee) doesn't already have one.

I'm working on it...but sometimes things don't work out the way you want. I have my own private account with Chordie.com...but, when attempting to create this "shared user" account, it seems there are problems to overcome.

I am not the only one, however, who sees the need for this technology:
http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 279#p96279

Of course, I always get excited about helping out...and I'm probably premature and putting stuff out there that isn't wanted or appropriate- so Kira- PLEASE, reign me in if need be!!!

If it helps, I may be able to scan some of the SoCal songs into a .pdf "set list" and e-mail to those interested.

I don't know if i have all the songs, but Rich F. mailed me a bunch before I went to my first mini-con.

From what I gleaned, the consensus is that too many stands and charts onstage during the jam is distracting, and people would rather do some studying beforehand, individually or in pre-jam group get-togethers, It looks like enough of the SOCAL veterans will be here to spearhead a fairly cohesive series of sets. Those who feel confident can take their place front stage while those less so can hang on the fringe and turn down a bit, or just watch like me. :)

This thread is a good place to mention the songs and bands you want to cover so that others can see and prepare, as Paul A has done for us earlier. A few people have offered to supply lead sheets and/or charts - those who need them should probably PM those folks for help and resources. There is still time for a pre-jam session if someone wants to organize it. Gary F, perhaps, a pre-jam at your place? 8)

So tell me if I'm off base, but I think the best policy is to prepare beforehand by networking with your fellow attendees on an as-need basis. Almost everybody has made themselves known by now so that shouldn't be hard. I just don't want to get bogged down personally with visual aids when there is so much to do with preparing the facility, hosting our guest bands, and making sure everyone who is coming has a good time.

Well, if you're hiring them, Jeff, I don't fancy there will be too many complaints.

I'm finally finding some time to work on some of the lead sheets. I've got TPATH, The Knack, R.E.M., and The Smithereens covered. I'll convert to PDF when I'm done. Let me know by PM or email if you want a copy. Can someone else do the same thing for some of the other songs on the list (Beatles, Byrds, Who, Kinks, Airplane, Jam, Plimsouls, etc.)?

Calling all you helpful volunteers:

Can someone manage to bring some tables and chairs? We're going to need guitar stands and/or racks as well. It's great the way they do it in SOCAL with the guitars up on tables. We could use as many folding chairs as we can manage, too.

Lighting and decorations are also needed. The walls are bare carpet and dimly lit, so anyone who can bring colored spot lights, banners, posters, etc., will really be helping.

Let us know if you can help with these things, please. :)

Is this going to be a Jam (ala our So Cal Mini-Cons) or a gathering and showing off of our favorite Rics (ala SCARF), or a combination of both?

I'm just trying to decide what to bring :)

Where are you other SoCal-ers staying?
