I'll be interested to read your impressions, Lou. I've only ever used Rick strings or Rotosound 10-46s on mine.

Howard, the guitar seem to play a little
better. I like the action really low and
they sound different. I also have them on
my Gretsch but I like Pyramids better for
the Gretsch. I know how the Rickenbacker strings
sound and now I know how the D'Addario strings
sound. On every Rick that I have owned Rick
strings were the only strings that I used.
Next time I have the 350V63 setup I'll go
back to Rickenbacker strings. I had so many set that I thought I'll give them a try. I think that there good but the Rick strings have a sound that I don't get with the other strings. The only string that looks a little weird is the low E string doesn't look like it fits right. They still have to settle in so with in the next few days I should know more.

Cool, Lou..... thanks. When you say "the guitar seems to play a little better" do you mean it feels a little "softer"? I always find a new set of strings feels like that anyway.

Howard that's right a little (softer)and now
I can tell you that I like the Rickenbacker
strings better on my 350V63. I will go back
to those strings but I had to try.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, eh? I guess one of the benefits of D'Addarios is the price. Buy 'em in lots of 50 and they're dirt cheap. I must admit I've never tried them on a Rick... only one of my Strats and my son's guitars.
The other ones I've tried that have felt and sounded good are the Martin Darcos. Electric Light (10-46). Pretty good value, too.
A friend of mine bought a heap of Washburn Vinci light specials (10-46). You can buy those direct from Washburn @ $3.59 per set for 12 sets. Well..... I can't but you can!

Howard a collector friend has offered me
$1100.00 for my 350V63. After thinking
about for a few days I'm not going to sell
to him. This collector loves Ricks and buys
as many as he can. Then he adds about three
hundred to the price. He may already have
some one lined up to buy the guitar. I like
to much and the body style is so different
compared to other Ricks.

I would have politely declined myself, Lou. $1100 is way too low in my opinion. Add the $300 that he would mark it up and you're getting closer.... perhaps still not enough, though.

I wouldn't consider anything under $1600-$1800. Actually, I wouldn't consider any offer. I just love mine waaaaay too much.

Who hustles their friends by lowballing a rare and treasured instrument, just to flip it??
And even $1400.00 is way on the low end.

"What is it with wives and guitars?"
-Aitch
"....Or husbands and guitars? Mine has said a few times now, "no more Rics....""
-Melissa
I'm trying to finish off my collection while I'm still single. Is this possible?
Actually, most of the girls I go out with have opined that owning numerous guitars just goes hand in hand with playing in a band and recording. I imagine this sort of opinion changes after the wedding vows, whether the spouse is husband or wife....

My wife is a player.
Er, guitar player. Makes it easier. Although occasionally, sleeping with a '60 Capri between us does get cramped...
But the Capri doesn't seem to mind.

That's a little toooo much information there big fella. Besides I would never let my guitars get that intimate with my wife.

I agree on the price, Paul..... I paid $1699 and $1899 for my Monty and MID respectively - both in near mint condition. Like Dean, mine are defintely NOT for sale and I'm always on the lookout.

Yep..... saw that Paul. Great price but I'm looking to sell my 660/12FG, not buy another one.... even though I love MB!
Since I bought my 350/12v63 the 660 doesn't even get a look in!!
