Ok, BT = Black trim. Got it now. Yeah, BT tuners would be good for it. I still want the white trim though.

black Schallers were/are hard to find. RIC discountinued and Allparts has them periodically.
The 8 banger is actually a 4003S/8.

Ohhhhhh. Well chrome would be fine. Sorry about mislabeling the bass. Guess I don't know as much as I thought. I'm glad I joined this forum so you guys could "teach" me.

Nate....actually I painted my white pickguard also and it has stood up to some abuse with no problems

. It was a cracked white pickguard that I painted just to see how it would turn out and it is nice enough that I haven't felt the need to replace it yet.......no problems with the paint peeling/cracking yet.

Yeah, good idea. That would save me $50 on getting a new one and my guard is in great shape. I'm gonna get paint tomorrow and I'll post the pics afterward. Now I just have to get schallers a new pickup cover and a badass 2. I've had the bass for about a year now. I didn't get to play it for about 6 months though because my dad is an A**hole. Took it out to get it set up and didn't see it for a while. I played my first gig without it. We played a Rush song to so it would've helped. What is on it is what was on it when I got it.... it needs to be customized.

I had "4001-BG" and "Nancy"
Is your 4001 a white bass, has it been refinished?

I have no idea... and if it was... WAAAAAH. White would have look good but it would've been yellow now. Guy on ebay said it was vintage. Looks vintage enough.

Ok that didn't work. I did the paint of the TRC and the guard and the guard looks like leather now... sure thats cool the the smell is making me woozy... nothing like a bass that gets ya high. I'll keep the TRC. My nose isn't always above that. But I'll have to buy a black guard now.

No biggie. I'l just buy a black guard. TRC came out ok. So I'll buy a black guard, black pickup cover (plastic), Badass 2 and M4s. It'll turn out well enough. Thanks for the idea though. It saved me $45 on the TRC.
It seems the jetglo finish has faded some. Guard is darker than the body.... I wonder if I should get it refinished too. Any suggestions?

I also want to know if this is a good amp to get and if it'll work with the Rick-o-sound. I've never been able to get my bass to work with rick-o-sound, even though I play in that jack and only use the treble pickup.

You might want to consider the new open back Schaller tuners that RIC puts on their 4003's, Nate. They look closer to original, the screw holes line up with the old 4001 tuners and in my opinion they work better than the M4's.(They're probably lighter also). I have 3 Ricks with the M4's, 2 with the new open back Schallers and 5 with the old-style tuners, so I have experience with all 3 types.(I fully expect someone here to disagree with me!)
Also, I'd recommend sending in your old pickguard to Pickguardian so that an exact duplicate can be made. That way you'll be sure that the holes will line up so that you won't have to drill new ones. He's very quick; I'm guessing that the whole turnaround time would be around 2 weeks even from NZ.

Ok, good plan. I don't quite like the shape of the deluxe schallers, but if they fit the holes it'll be easier. Yeah, Pickguardian would work. I wonder if it'll take any longer than two weeks if I order a pickup cover.
