Looks like Gary is asking $4K for his. There's one on ebay now for $3295 or best offer.

Don't exaggerate. $3999 is not $4000. :) I think once my last Rickenbacker's get here, it's time to pick up George's Gretsch's. I think this one will be last if at all. I remember someone here saying that Hofner was going to release a less expensive version. I don't know if that means something along the lines of the Hofner Icon or Contemporary bass series or something completely different.

I could understand $1500 - $2000, but anything more is insane for what was basically the Squier Strat of the late '50s. I think people tend to forget that Hofners were used by many of the old '60s groups primarily because they were cheap and available, not because they sounded or played particularly well.

Exactly. But it isn't 4k because its a good guitar. It's 4k because it has Lennon's name on it. I guess some think that it adds value. But it seems that 120 were made and that 120 are still available.
